If you're too lazy to read, Cards would send Minor Leaguer Luis Garcia and a player to be named to Cleveland for Chuck Finley...
"(Jul 19) KANSAS CITY, Missouri (Ticker) -- The Cleveland Indians scratched veteran lefthander Chuck Finley from his scheduled start on Friday night amid reports he will be traded to the St. Louis Cardinals.
ESPN reported Friday that Finley has been traded. Indians manager Joel Skinner said before Cleveland's game that Finley is not hurt. An Indians spokesman said an official announcement will be made after the game or Saturday.
Finley owns a career record of 193-169 with a 3.85 ERA over 17 seasons, all in the American League. He has struggled in his third season with Cleveland, going 4-11 with a 4.44 ERA, and had a highly publicized domestic dispute with his wife, actress Tawny Kitaen, before his first start of the year.
Finley is 0-5 with a 5.18 ERA in his last seven starts and has not won since June 2. The Indians will send Jason Phillips to the mound in Finley's place Friday.
Terms of a trade, which is contingent on Finley passing a physical, are expected to be finalized Saturday, according to ESPN. The Indians reportedly are acquiring Class AA outfielder Luis Garcia and a player to be named.
The trade would continue a series of cost-cutting moves by Indians first-year general manager Mark Shapiro to revamp a club that won four of the last five American League Central Division titles. Cleveland dealt ace Bartolo Colon last month to Montreal and fired manager Charlie Manuel last Thursday.
St. Louis is seeking to add a starter to fill the void left by the death of Darryl Kile. The Cardinals enter the day in first place in the National League Central Division, 3 1/2 games ahead of Cincinnati."
