An interesting Lincoln cent collection sold on eBay

braddickbraddick Posts: 24,178 ✭✭✭✭✭

I was looking at this auction and it raised some questions.
In checking out the photos and also the description it appears to possibly
include a 1914-D and perhaps the 1931-S cents. The 09-S looks to be there too
along with other semi-key dates.
I can't tell by just the photos yet it also seems to offer the 70-S small date.

The selling price seems too cheap if all of the above truly is the case.
I know sometimes the coin behind on the next page is seen to appear on the top page in the photo, yet
I don't think that's the case here. All the coins seem to be in the correct spots.
Am I missing something here?

I agree. I think there was an error in the listing price, perhaps off by a decimal?

Maybe the incorrect coins are in those spaces. It wouldn't be the first time either by accident or on purpose.

The 23 no D must be the key.

Kind off looks like the 09 S VDB and the 22 plain are empty. Showing the coin behind it on the next page.

Isn't the empty album worth almost that much! :D;)

    Details Details ;);)
    The listing reads...
including the highly coveted 1909 VDB, 1914-D, 1923 "No D," and 1955 Doubled Die Obverse, among other notable key dates and varieties.

eBay guarantee would come into play if those coins aren't there OR fake.

    Good buy if correct.

I don't think the seller claimed these two coins are there and yes- those spots are definitely empty. It is looking at those spots and comparing them to the 09-S, the 14-D and the 31-S that has me believing those coins are truly there- unless as someone else pointed out, the wrong coins are presented in those spots.

Either way, it'll be interesting to find out once this set of coins arrives in the next couple of days.

    LOL. Nice pickup.
Let us know the grade of the key dates and if legit coins.
Again, well worth the gamble, the seller seems to know something about coins...
    Good luck.

I picked up a group that a seller had with a 1914-D written on the cardboard flip containing a cent and listed it in the description as well.
Turned out to be a Real cent but a 1914 plain...I didn't see any D.
I sent the lot back for a refund including shipping.

    " 1909 VDB " not the 09 S VDB ? " 23 No D " So just a 23 Phila ? If it truly is a 55DDO, you got a helluva deal !!!

There is no 55/55. Dansco doesn't even an opening for the 55/55.
If there had been a 55/55 (in the regular 1955 spot) I would have photographed it and shown you.

We'll see. If the seller knew enough to describe key date coins then they know the value.... just say'n.
