Both of these were unexpected! Both came from different collections that came into the store today. I plucked one nice penny from each collection!

I’ve been wanting a nice MS67 wheat cent for a while now, but very important to me is having an old holder for stable red.

This one totally fit the bill:

And this one, the first IHC I have bought in a while, a great date, and I love the look of this coin! This is making me more and more committed to doing the set. Indian Head Cents

What do you guys think?

I like both! From the photos the 69 looks to be slightly undergraded. Am I missing something?

The coin looks hammered. No marks that show in the photo. Nice RB color. I would be sending it to CACG. Great pickup!

@asheland, those early IHC are so difficult to find nice. That 1869 is well struck and has really nice color. Reverse looks to have the shallow N. Congrats. I’ve started to put together that set too. You’ll enjoy it.

I have pretty much decided I’m going to do the IHC set very slowly.
