Oddity in a common mint set?

OnWithTheHuntOnWithTheHunt Posts: 1,322 ✭✭✭✭✭

One of the raffle items I won at the coin club meeting last night was a 1971 mint set, Pand D. Not a big whoop, but upon examination of the Philadelphia set, which was still sealed , I found a 1971S cent in place of the mint token. The regular Philly cent was also in there. Was that the usual practice?

Yep, 1968-1974 cents were minted for circulation at San Fran and included in mint sets.

Right, that's how they came from the mint.
