Newb submission questions

JimWJimW Posts: 571 ✭✭✭✭

1) If PCGS has a presence at a major show, can I just show up with the coins I want to submit and join the Collector Club on site? That is sign up and use the submission vouchers right away?

2) If a coin has a PCGS # already assigned but might be considered a variety, does one need to specify the variety attribution?
For example, a 1995 DDO cent has a specific # already (3125) - so if it is submitted under that number, does one still need to specify variety attribution in the submission process?

Trying to avoid as many mistakes as possible....
Thanks!

For question 1, the form has a box to check off to join the collector club. So you should be able to do it onsite.
Using the vouchers, I'm not sure about. When I joined online, I got the vouchers and was able to enter that number. I don't know how it works when you join via the form on site (but it's possible that it's simply something like writing, use vouchers...hopefully someone else can chime in).

I've signed up onsite and gotten my free submissions at that time in the past. I'd assume that would still work today. Why not give them a call?

Thanks @U1chicago and @tommy44 ! I could give them a call, but I thought to go right to the experts first :) You know, sometimes customer service doesn't always provide the correct answer.

If its a major variety with a unique PCGS coin number I think you just need to specify what it is in the submission. I've never checked the variety attribution box and its always worked for me for those major varieties. I think thats more for Overton numbers and such.

    This.

3125 is a "major variety", and does not require variety attribution.

That said, a "die variety" would require variety attribution. For example, "1995 1C DDO FS-101, BN" (38103).

Edited for clarity. Specifically, added the second screenshot.

The vouchers would work for regular submissions but not for on site grading.
