He's over at this site and touted his "1793" cent and may be on the verge of getting banned.

    It didn't go well there...

I have to admit that I’ve looked at other forums a couple times in the last month looking to see if I can find any of Slicks “entertaining” posts, but had not found him using his name. Never checked this forum. Looks as if he is spouting the same silly theories over there, and of course received all the same answers as he has received everywhere. His posts were almost a month ago if I saw the dates correct, so maybe he was banned there too. Slick sure has a lot of “belief” in his coin in the face of such obvious and correct answers received.

I've seen him on at least 4 different forums, all with the same results. There are a myriad of facebook coin groups, I wonder how many of them he has hit.

He was on Coin Community Forum as well...

It is actually a shame; he barraged me with a bunch of nonsense emails when he asked for help from EAC and I tried. Actually got very unnerving...

lol, old SlickCoins. I haven’t thought of him in a while. His posts when from curiosity to sad to frustrating to silently amusing relatively quickly for me. I always wondered if he was an alt for someone who just wants to have fun on the side.

I don't think he believes his coins are real. I think he is just a troll who shows counterfeit or parking lot coins in hopes of playing "gotcha" with the others on the forum. It's such a waste of everyone's time - even his.

I am a newer collector (started April 2020), and I primarily focus on U.S. Half Cents and Type Coins. Early copper is my favorite.

Most of them advertise WiFi these days. Speaking for a friend.

FWIW, he lasted 38 postings and created 8 topics over on CCF. 3 in June 2020, 2 in July 2020, and 3 in July 2021 (one of which was locked after 3 pages of nonsense). Hasn't been seen since July 2021.

His diatribes were curiously entertaining, in a similar way one might watch a train wreck unfurl itself in slow motion.

I too have to wonder whether he’s a dedicated Troll.
If not, then there certainly are some interesting motives underlying it all.

I do not believe him a troll...

In his rambling emails to me he was on a mission to prove his superiority over the many known experts he named in Numismatics and early copper. His ramblings got dark and beyond mean spirited and I finally told him that directly. I finally had to block Eric for my own peace of mind

    Well, that’s rather disturbing!

Oh man - so worse than I even thought. I blocked him a long time ago, because I didn't care to continue to debate reality. It's unfortunate that it was more than that.

I can absolutely agree and confirm this exact pattern with Slick. Before he got the boot from here a month or two ago, I (probably foolishly) made an attempt instead of arguing his points, to show how he might be able to communicate better. He sent a lot of apologies to me in private message, seemed genuinely interested in some of the advice, proof, images of EXACT same copies of his, and he would almost seem to be turning the corner until a day or two later he would make another completely rambling “post” with even more nonsense.

He actually tried to argue with me that his coin was struck using discoveries made in sugar beets farming, and sugar beet juice was used in the striking of pre-1800 cents!?!?!?! Once he got there, I basically told him I was unable to communicate with him anymore as he had no reality left in his numismatic brain. Of course that did not stop him from sending me 45 straight private messages over a 10 hour period, about 2 or 3 days before being banned, some very nice, some angry, some with incoherent babble. I’m not sure exactly what he has going on in his personal life, but this hobby probably is not the one for him.

In conclusion, I don’t think he was a troll with his large cent, I think he was delusional. However on some of his other “finds” I think he was hoping for a “gotcha” moment where he could then use that to show his 1793 was authentic. Of course, that did not happen!

In hindsight, it was pretty sad seeing his mental deterioration. Some of his earlier posts were sensible and intelligent. I wondered what happened.

I think New England rarities basically nailed this one.
I don't think he was a troll, I think he just see's any attention as positive attention. He was clearly mentally ill, and his ramblings seemed to be a way to get engagement from a community.

What's really strange is that he says he purchased the coin as a replica and somehow convinced himself it is a rare 230 year old, uncatalogued piece of history.

The incredible staying power of Slick..🤯
Dudes been gone for months and still his legacy continues.
The level of engagement AND bashing this poor guy managed to receive from this forum and others is almost more incredible than his rambling.

I do not disagree with the point you are making at all in general. Though I will say, slick was given a lot more chances than most would have got. The piling on from the members here was very much his own doing, not because he may have been having issues in his life, but more so his bashing of both past and present recognized experts, and that he knew more than them because his obvious fake was real to him.

Many people gave him many opportunities for a long time before it got to where it did, including a number of people here who tried to help him multiple times, only for him to attack us with angry, rambling and frankly disturbing private messages and emails. I see where you are coming from, but I think in this case it was certainly self-inflicted.

    Agree.
But at some point, when it became very clear that he wasn't actually in good health, continuing to "try and help" became just as nutty as his whole delusion.
Those who tried to reason with him got pulled inside the fantasy world and eventually everyone's looking goofy just for being here..
Kinda like we do right now, still bringing it all back up 😂

I like watching a train wreck as much as anyone. But Slick is a special case; even I have to be a bit alarmed at his behavior, and wonder what ails him--it has gone far past the point where I can chuckle at his antics.
