Almost Record Price Paid for a Raw '64 Topps Giants Card

Can you believe this?

"Mint" Clemente Card

I think I remember a raw "Mint" Mantle that went for $300 some time back. The seller talked it up like the second coming.

WOW! ...Gee! GEMMINT, I thought you were the insane '64 Giants buyer image I guess you got company. Thats alot of dough for an ungraded card, after all a NM/MT PSA-8 smr's for $70.00 and the buyer has to fork out the grading and shipping fees. I hope for his sake, a MINT 9 is the outcome. Its hard to get a handle on the scan if its an 8, or 9 quality card...jay

GEMMINT - I think I agree with you. I think an ungraded set in NM/MINT books for around $250.00, so thats a lot of sugar for a raw Clemente...jay
  • I am amazed. Have the raw cards been demanding that much recently?

I have done business with the individual that is selling these cards. I must say, while he is easy to do business with and very fair, his grading isn't up to PSA standards. I'd be afraid this card would come back a 7 or an 8 at best.
