When sending coins to NGC or PCGS how to package them?

Can I just put them in those 2 by 2 mylar holders? Never submitted coins before.

I will most likely take the normal service express is to expensive for coins of value I am sending in at some point. Is NGC faster than PCGS I know both will take months most likely. My coins are world coins but I prefer asking here since not much action in that section.

They prefer the 2.5 by 2.5 mylar flips 1 coin per flip. Put 2 or 3 in a row and wrap in bubble wrap or Safe-T-Mail so the coins don't touch each other during shipping.

Like these? If so I will order some. Can each one be sealed or do I use staples?

I used to use Saflips until I discovered these. They are less expensive and work just as well. Do not seal or staple. Just fold over and rubber band 3 to 5 together.

    Thanks

As you have world coins to submit I would recommend NGC, they are the market leader in world coinage.

Just ordered a package of 50 today thanks. How do you seal them when sending to NGC? I imagine it is 1 coin per flip? Do you have to label the flips or something to state what the coin is to be graded?

As MWallace wrote in the post you quoted, ;) "Do not seal or staple. Just fold over and rubber band 3 to 5 together" Write the line number for each coin on the flip, I use a label maker myself, but a sharpie will work too.

Do rubber bands contain PVC? Just curious. Would it not be better to just tape them?

I do not know the exact chemical composition of rubber bands. That said, both PCGS and NGC specifically recommend that you rubber band the flips together for shipment. So, I think it is OK.

Some have a sulfur content to them and that is why it is not recommended to store coins wrapped in rubber bands, but I have never heard of any PVC issues with using them. And you are only using them for a very short period of time, it will not be any sort of issue. I have sent coins to be graded, imaged, and to CAC and never had any problems from using rubber bands.

I ship some coins in air-tite capsules -- for peace-of-mind that in-transit rough handling won't clatter & ding my coins.

    NO STAPLES.

What I do is bundle up my flips in a small zipper bag(I usually have one or two around here from coin purchases), fold the submission form in 3rds and rubber band it around the bag. Put that in a small box with plenty of paper or bubble wrap around it. Use fiber reinforced water activated paper tape, it is better in every way and paper tape is required for registered mail so they can stamp it.
I almost always ship to PCGS using a box shipped to me from earlier orders. USPS registered.
