So with my latest addition of this 1937 proof Walker, I now have passed the halfway point to completing the full set of proof Walking Liberty half dollars in proof-67. I know it’s a short set, but not all that easy to find in 67. Only 3 more to go including the biggy 1936!

Any chance you’ll end up with a 67+ for 1936?

Thanks everyone. Have my “feelers” out for the 1936 in 67, knowing there are a few out there. Not expecting to find one in 67+ CAC.

Congrats! I have found the ‘37 to be the toughest year to locate, at least within my criteria. It’s the only coin I still need to complete the set. I’ve walked major shows and looked in every case and couldn’t even find one to consider.

Doing this set in the same grade is admirable, given the price point on the ‘36. I stepped down 2-3 grades from the rest of the set to fill that hole. One thing @FlyingAl educated me about is that the mirror quality is different on the ‘36 issue depending on when it was struck as the dies were prepared differently.

Are you doing the full set as CAC, or was that just a bonus on this one? I highly recommend this set to anyone—these are beautiful coins and there are enough in a range of grades out there to do it on a variety of budgets.

Nothing is as expensive as free money.

I didn’t start out collecting these Walkers with cac in mind, but I do have 3 out of the 4 now with cac stickers. I have a beautiful 1938 proof without a cac sticker, but may need to find one with. I do plan on purchasing the remaining 3 with cac but may have to drop a grade on the 36 if it’s unavailable or unaffordable. I did pass on a 1936 in proof 65 cac that I thought had a few too many hairlines on the obverse in a prime focal area. And I agree with you about the beauty of these pieces especially in 67.
