Restoration results

On a recently purchased upgrade to my set there was a spot on the reverse in the oak leaf area. I thought it was a small darkly toned speck until i examoned it much more closely after a forum member mentioned that it looked like crud. Before and after Tru views.

Did it upgrade after the restoration?

I see what you're talking about (on reverse) but it's barely noticeable IMHO.

Luckily, they didn't remove that toning.

I would have been very upset if they had.

Do you have it in hand and did you verify that the work was done? PCGS does not tell you if they decline to restore your coin. It's possible no restoration was done. Check your invoice if it says "evaluation fee" or "restoration fee" it's the only way to know.

@ProofCollection It is not back in hand yet. A friend sent it in for me. It must have been restored because the crud spot has been removed as the new Tru View shows.

Maybe they just cleaned their camera lens :D

If that were the case then the crud spot would still be there, but it would look like a cleaner crud spot.

Huge improvement getting rid of that black spot. It sb easier to sell now bringing more money too. I think it possibly appeared after the coin originally graded (coins go bad in the holder all the time). In that scenario if not conserved then really lower than the grade on the holder.

It maybe same grade but a lot more sellable! Big picture - more $$.

    Nice looking dime.
I'm curious what a beautifully toned Roosevelt like this trades for?

I couldn't live with the spot. Once you saw it it cant be unseen. Not likely to be sold for a long tie thou unless I get a better looking MS68.

@150K This and many others in my set cost quite a bit. Between the high grades and the awesome toning. I think I'm down to one arm and one leg now.

I see it now. I didn't at first. Yeah, they clearly did something.

Looks great! Good thing it was blast white underneath the black crud, it probably would have made it look funny if it was removed and left a blast white mark that would disrupt the toning if it was toned in that area too.
