GTG Lincoln Cent

Here are a couple of hints:

-It is straight-graded.
.
-It is an error (so part of the GTG is to state the type of error).

Straight graded?!?! WoW! Nice!! I don't know but I like it! PO1? No idea about the error. I'll take a shot at it. Broadstrike on the rev? Struck thru on the Obv?

This might be the first GTG in history where the first two guesses were MS and Poor.

I agree with the die adjustment error. No clue on the grade. Feels like the TPG even assigning this a grade is somewhat silly.

Late to the game but was going to say die adjustment strike with no idea on the grade.

Question from a rookie: how could that possibly be a MS60???

While it has very little detail, theres not any actual wear on the coin. It wasn't struck with enough pressure to bring out the details, and we still see all the planchet imperfections. Since its uncirculated, it can't be anything lower than MS60, but since it's abraded and unattractive, it can't be anything more either.

I purchased it from a well-known Error dealer.

If die adjustment strike can't be called a mint error. It's definitely a weak strike that results from a grease-filled die.

Good coin to contemplate Lincoln as he fades into the planchet.

    .

    Not grease-filled in my opinion.

A weak "die-adjustment" strike cold be considered a "mint error" if the mint never intended to release it but did so by accident.
