SOLD!!!! 1922-D Lincoln PCGS MS65RD with CAC. Ex Tom Bender Coll'n. Only 12 of 128 with a CAC!
.SOLD for $3,877 w/BP.
There have been 128 1922-D Lincoln’s graded MS 65RD (102 by PCGS and 26 by NGC). At this price point, chances are high that most have been submitted to CAC. Of those 128, only 12 coins have a CAC sticker, and this is one of them!
I consigned this coin in the current Legend Regency Auction 61, Lot #16, as I upgraded this with a new purchase of a 65+RD.
Here is their description:
EX. BENDER COLLECTION, as noted on the insert.
BOLD STRIKE. Students of this date will appreciate how well struck Lincoln's hair and beard are, in addition to the full reverse wheat sheaves when compared to other comparably graded pieces. BLAZING flashy mint luster. Spot and mark-free. Stress on the die is beginning to take its toll as evidenced by the die crack that has developed from the edge to the right wheat sheaf.
PCGS 102, NGC 26, CAC 12. PCGS Price Guide is $3,650. The most recent auction trade was in August 2022 and was for this exact coin, where it sold for $4,560. If you want a well struck, above average GEM to add to your Registry set, we implore you to strike while the iron is hot and snatch this beauty away from your competitors with an aggressive bid.

Winesteven:
Is going for a 65+ enough of an upgrade to bother with rather than going for one of the two 66 out there?
First, in my entire DATE set of Lincoln Wheat cents, each coin has an RD suffix and has a CAC sticker (and is graded no less than MS65RD), with no coin being BN or RB. So while there are nine 1922-D’s coins graded MS66RD with CAC stickers, those sell for about $10k each, roughly double the price of a 65+RD. As such, for me, 65+RD is the highest grade I was financially comfortable with for this set.

I went by the CAC census which showed two 1922-D cents stickered in MS-66RD. I assumed both are PCGS. I might be mistaken.
Have you ruled out CACG possibly upgrading your current 65RD cent as a 65+?
The CAC census shows the 1922-D Lincoln in MS66RD as nine, not two. They show two for MS66BN, and two for MS66RB.
I did indeed submit this 1922-D Lincoln Cent graded MS65RD by PCGS with a CAC sticker to CACG to cross ONLY at an upgrade, even if just a plus, but it did NOT cross.
