Well, for sometime now I’ve been looking for a really nice arrows and Rays with some nice circulated cameo where the arrows and rays and devices really pop. I had a couple lower grade problem, coins, but they did not fit with the quality of my set at all. Just the other day I was in the local coin shop on the way down to visit my in-laws and lo and behold a really nice VF/XF 1853-P arrows in rays.
I haggled back-and-forth with a coin shop owner, but his asking price was just too far out of the range on where the coin needed to be… So with a bit of resentment, I let the coin go. I then proceeded on in my travels to visit my in-laws and as I pulled in the driveway, I said what the heck and pulled up a few websites to check for any new postings and lo and behold… an 1853P arrows in Rays with circulated cameo… The price was 1/5 of the price of the other arrows and raise 53-O that I had just passed up so with a very quick thumb I purchased a coin! Please let me know thoughts on this circulated cameo 53.
…and if you have one…. Please post your Arrows and Rays seated half thats in your set/ collection…

It's just a little too dark for me near the rims, and a little busy on her thigh, but the contrast and overall detail are very nice.
I have a quarter.
This one needs a major upgrade.

Quarter:
I believe the O mint mark is a bit scarcer on the half, nice pickup

Back to your question.
When you say 1/5 the price, are we talking a material amount? Without knowing the price difference I’d have gone with your initial want: the O is a very nice coin.
I think the P will fit nicely in your collection but if you’re going to think about the O…go for it :-)
Excellent pair of 53 A/R @Leeroybrown
Here is my 53-0, AU53, WB-3.

Got it in-hand…

Johnny010,
Specifically, I am talking about a material amount…. The 1853-O that the coin shop dealer had for sale was priced at $515 (pics at top of posting)…
…the 53P that I bought online shortly after (in-hand pics just posted above) I bought for $100 flat w/ free shipping.
It keeps getting lighter in appearance for some reason. Anyway nice coin for the price paid.
Here’s mine, probably been in the Dansco album for 30+ years:
Its dark and crusty, but toned when light hits it…
Yours is super nice as well @ Walkerguy21D !!!
Love it
Can we see the reverse pic? Please

Assuming the OP doesn’t mind….. I reshot the obverse, since it’s been awhile, and shot the reverse- which unfortunately didn’t tone as nicely as the obverse. Still a decent album coin:
I think it toned better than the reverse. A very colorful, 'festive' look to it.
I like her alot. Love the album toning on it !!!
