1900-O Morgan, Not A Coin Star Find But Almost

I took my dump coins to my local credit union. The coin counting machine was jammed and wouldn't take my coins. One of the teller came over to clear the machine. She opened it up, pulled this out and handed it to me. (the machine only takes cents thru small dollars) Someone before me dumped this Morgan in.
I guess the teller thought it was mine. Was it ethical for me to take it?........probably not but I took it. Anyone stupid enough to put a SILVER dollar in one of these machines...................well, you know the rest!
Thought it would make a great story for a thread.

Wow, what a find!
Type collector, mainly into Seated. -formerly Ownerofawheatiehorde. Good BST transactions with: mirabela, OKCC, MICHAELDIXON, Gerard
One time, when I was getting ready to move from Charlotte to California, I took a big jar of coins to a Coin Star and I dumped the coins in. The machine jammed up and stopped working, so I told one of the cashiers and they called someone in the back with the keys to the Coin Star. The guy opened it up and about 6 Ike dollars had jammed up the machine.

.Not unethical at all. I would have kept it too. That was your lucky day!
Thanks. Then I was thinking to myself......there's a coin star thread here. All those guys keep what they find, right?

Yes it was. Furthermore, since it was a gift from the teller, it would have been rude not to.
Hah maybe you should have tried to buy all the coins in the coin star! Any mix with a Morgan in it is bound to have other goodies that went through.
Way cool 😎
That is an excellent point! I have asked in the past if I could buy any of the bags. It's apparently against credit union policy.
I'm thinking about how many silver dimes, quarters or halves that machine might have taken from the guy!

"When they can't find anything wrong with you, they create it!"
I agree. You were given the coin, and you took the admonishment for putting it in the machine - it is yours. Awesome - congrats!!!!
I am a newer collector (started April 2020), and I primarily focus on U.S. Half Cents and Type Coins. Early copper is my favorite.
