Comments
The coin looks XF in terms of wear but the copper plating appears to have been partly stripped away, maybe by cleaning or environmental exposure.
That's it. I would call something like this "AU details." It clearly circulated, but has only minimal wear on the high points. Luster seems to be lacking, so without the staining and such it might be in the AU55 range?

What makes it "transitional "?

Awesome find!

As for the grade?

--- If it should happen I die and leave this world and you want to remember me. Please only remember my opening Sig Line.I think that's staining not stripping. The white balance in the photos is off.

I going to say that the coin has some staining and some clear signs of circulation, my thought on a grade is AU53.

I'm not familiar with the variety. Is it rare/valuable?
They're hard to find in the wild. I believe they've caught on after inclusion in the Cherrypicker Guide. Not particularly valuable, but hard to beat getting one at face value
