Just like bookies automatically give the home team 3 points in the spread for home field advantage. Bookies are now giving road teams a 14 points advantage for road field advantage at Arrowhead when Taylor Swift makes an appearance. 😆

Just like bookies automatically give 100,000 to 1 odds on Steviek ever making a funny joke about Taylor Swift.

What I find funny is people implying Taylor Swift is somehow seeking publicity. As if she needs any more. The truth is, she just wants to go to the game and support Kelce. She can’t control the media obsession with showing her on TV and talking about her/them every five seconds.

Yes, so before the Chiefs game with the Raiders, she comes into the stadium driven in a cart, waving to the crowd. But that's somehow not seeking publicity, IE attention? Come on now. 😂

Hey that's fine, doesn't bother me one bit. I couldn't care less what she does. I just find it funny how her appearances at the Chiefs game coincide with the Chiefs losing this season.

Now Travis is throwing his helmet like a madman. The Taylor attention virus has affected him as well. That's my theory. 😉

Yea sure Darin, and if this was happening to the Eagles, you'd be laughing your arze off and you know it.

So lighten up and absorb the smack. Your team is the defending Super Bowl champions for crying out loud. I only wish the tables were turned, and the Eagles were the defending champs, and Jalen Hurts was dating Taylor. Which considering the prolific number of boyfriends that Taylor has had over the years, certainly is a possibility.

The first game Taylor attended was on September 24. Starting with that game, the Chiefs won 7 of 9. Does that part of the season not count for some reason?

Just like when initially catching a virus such as covid, there are perhaps none or very few symptoms. It took a while for the Taylor virus to kick-in and infect the Chiefs. 😉

You think waving to the crowd indicates attention seeking? She’s acknowledging the crowd who are going nuts for her. She has always been known for her kindness and generosity to her fans, anything she does at these games is her trying to be gracious. This is someone who goes to Poland and sells 150,000 tickets. She doesn’t need to seek attention.

I say live and let live...I'm amazed this thread has gotten the legs it has.

Here's a 34 year old BILLIONAIRE, who happens to be dating an NFL player. The press is having a field day with their apparent romance, if KC wins, she's a gem, if KC loses, she's a pariah. IMO, she's just there for the thrill of the game, and cheering on her guy, no more, no less. I seriously doubt either of them want or need the attention, and probably wish they could just blend into the crowd. Unless they move to some remote atol in the Pacific, they will have to endure the scrutiny of those who seek to hound them. I think the apparent never-ending of live tv pics of Swift reacting to good/bad plays is pretty shallow on those who push the buttons.

I used to think this was the Sports page.

I do find it odd that I posted a pic of a young kid with a pumpkin during Thanksgiving, but it got taken down. My intent was to show how happy and young we all were once. Odd decision I thought by the Moderator.

She doesn’t need to seek attention.

Come on, virtually all famous folks when attending a sports event at a stadium, simply go in thru a private entrance, and up the elevator to their deluxe seats. But Taylor decides to ride in on a cart? Call that whatever ya wish, but you can't call it not seeking attention.

Oh well, again, I find it all funny. But if some don't for whatever reason, that's their prerogative.

Of course she doesn't need the attention BUT the NFL sure is enjoying it!

Taylor likes throwing to the tight end.

That's strictly a football comment, nothing else intended.

Ah, probably the Chiefs will repeat as Super Bowl champs, and quiet all the haters. Then she and Travis will get married in the off season and live happily ever after. 💑

That’s the unfortunate part of fame. You’re just trying to live your life and you have to hear idiotic comments like this from complete strangers. But I guess the satisfaction of having achieved so much and given joy to so many more than balances that out.

Sorry but my last sentence is fact. Taylor has been a well known pass-around her entire life. She would be the first to admit it. She even publicly kids about it. All the rest, hey, I'm just having fun. I don't hero worship celebrities like evidently you do, which is fine, more power to ya.

But I've never hero worshipped any celebrity especially entertainers. My genuine societal heroes are those such as veterans who sacrificed for our country - top of the list. Followed by those who keep our country safe such as law enforcement, fire fighters, etc, as well as doctors, nurses, etc.

I respect police and veterans as much as the next guy. That doesn’t mean I can’t also respect someone who has given joy to millions for 15+ years. Not to mention doing more to stimulate the US economy this year than anyone else.

Taylor is extremely talented, no question about that. I don't begrudge her one bit having the fame and fortune that she does. That being said, I see no reason to put her on some sort of pedestal either, immune to some good natured ribbing, inspired by the non-stop headlines about her and Travis on almost every media outlet.

Frankly, if she was dating some tight end from the Carolina Panthers, I couldn't care less about it, and neither would most of the media. But she's dating a player from the Super Bowl champs who happens to be a celebrity in his own right. Travis and his brother Jason have a very popular podcast, and I've watched some of the shows. Very entertaining. I really enjoyed two of them in particular, one with Andy Reid and the other with Julian Edelman.

I'll be darn - I didn't realize she was the one who screwed up the economy. I'm gonna have to write her and see if she can lower gas and food prices.

No, she’s the one who stimulated the local economy in every city her tour visited, to the tune of over $5 billion. The federal reserve said so themselves.

And while she doesn’t have the power to lower food and gas prices, she did make it more tolerable for hundreds of folks who work supporting her tour by giving them over $50 million in bonuses this year, including $100,000 each to nearly fifty truckers….life changing money for sure. Oh, and she also included a hand written thank you note with their bonus checks.

OK Paul - if you want to post some of her music while you are singing it and prancing around the house there is a music thread in the coin section!

What I think your missing is that the NFL and the networks keep forcing her on the broadcasts because its smart for them to do it monetarily. She is legitimately more popular world wide than the NFL and that is not an exaggeration. She has a crazy loyal fan base that if they know shes going to the game will watch the game or buy a jersey because of her.

She could be dating the practice squad punter and the media and the NFL would care

Uh not really, the money was already in the local economy where she performed. She actually took money out of the local economies and transferred it to herself and the crew that works for her, likely almost all of them don't live in the area where she performed.

Stimulating a local economy is a new business moving in, or an old business doing new things, which generates new revenue and wealth to the locals.

You're absolutely right. Today's media websites are mostly about the click bait revenue they generate, and it is enormous. As well as the regular advertising revenue. Taylor headlines help that, no question about it.

After they break-up, the media attention will fizzle. Of course then the media will find another news story for click bait as they always do. Just like they finally wore out the Brady-Gisele divorce story, and transferred their attention to Taylor-Kelce. The next one? Perhaps the latest murder mystery, or whatever.

Presidential election season is coming up so they may be mostly focused on that. Of which I will not be doing a single comment on that, including not even any jokes. I've got no interest in joining Dimeman. 😉

Huh?! You do get that wealth is not a zero sum game, right? Obviously tons of money was spent by visitors at local hotels, restaurants, etc. How in the world is that taking money out of the local economy?

But don’t believe me, here’s what the Fed had to say:

That's getting a bit political. I'm not going there.

Bottom line - Taylor has had tour performances in many US cities. Take Philly for example, If she had a concert here, it would be at the Linc. This particular event would draw almost everyone from the Delaware Valley, IE the surrounding local area. A NYC concert would be from that area, etc.

Hey this is getting too repetitive and boring for me. I'm done with Taylor for now. We shall see if she jinxes the Chiefs in the upcoming home game or not? Frankly, I really don't give a cheese one way or the other. My only interest is having some fun with it if the Chiefs lose. 😉

  • PaulMaulPaulMaul Posts: 4,875 ✭✭✭✭✭

    @stevek

Nothing political about it. It is Economics 101 that the local economies were boosted substantially by the Eras tour, and no one reasonable disputes that.

But I’m fine being done with the Taylor discussion too. 👍

In the case of Taylor Kelce if/when they break up the attention on Kelce and the Cheifs/NFL will fade but it will still be on Taylor. The biggest difference will be the NFL and game broadcasts not mentioning it anymore which I get a lot of people want.

She could be dating the local bus boy at an Applebees and theyd still be focused on it. Kelce would likely still get questions for quite sometime about what went wrong or what he did etc with how her fans work
