1958 Lincoln wheat cent- why did someone save this penny?

Hello everyone, my name is John and I am brand new to posting. I had some coins I have acquired a few years ago. Some are in the typical 2x2 with staplers, which I read was not good so I put them into 2x2 mylar flips. I have been trying to figure out why these coins were saved by the previous owner. The 1st coin is a 1958 Lincoln cent. Its not a DDO, so I know I don't have the Holy grail. Do any of you see what would make someone save this particular coin? I zoomed in the wheat because that's the only thing I noticed. (I apologize if my post is too long)

Welcome to the forum! Probably just because it is in decent condition and to protect it from further damage. I do the same with better condition wheats.

The only thing I can see are some scratches on the die around the ONE from an improper
cleaning but it is nothing that would add any great value.
Also it is the last year of the wheat cent which may have something to do with wanting to
keep it. In 1959 the memorial cent was introduced.

Thank you for responding. I see. Makes sense.

The 1st photos do look weird. My camera phone sucks. Thanks for responding. I'll hold it but know it won't retire me. lol. Would it be proper to post my other questionable coins here on my own thread, or do I need to start a new one?

To avoid confusion, you should start a new thread for each coin.

It'll keep a bit interest and not having to go look for it. Welcome to the forums as well 🙂

@JohnPauole I would suggest posting on the U.S. coin forum, most coin collectors don't visit the Q&A forum often.

I disagree. Ther are a lot of members that visit both of these. I find them interesting, informative, and at times funny too. :)

I guess I was a little dumb in that post, looking back on it this place is perfect if you only need a few replies.
