Friend found this in a mixed lot of foreign, most I can discern from searching is that it is likely European and medieval. Can anyone help with a more detailed attribution? He neglected to give me a diameter, just a weight of 8.0g:
Thanks,
Sean Reynolds
Incomplete planchets wanted, especially Lincoln Cents & type coins.

If it's a coin, it's probably not European and medieval, because it's not silver. Whatever it is, there's nothing left of it, as the IXE is a countermark.
The Romans made countermarks like that - IX could be 9 or it might be LX - although it is a bit large for them. 8g is the size of an as.
