I have the chance to upgrade one of my Indian cents, but it looks like it was dipped in acid. It’s pretty cheap, so should I get it?
My coin:
Type collector, mainly into Seated. -formerly Ownerofawheatiehorde. Good BST transactions with: mirabela, OKCC, MICHAELDIXON, Gerard

What do the other coins look like?
My current one is on the bottom.

1863 is a pretty common date. I would look for a problem free VF or XF.
+1
What I meant was, the other coins in the album…I’m guessing this is a Dansco 7070 type album.
Are the other coins meaty higher grade coins, but with possible issues, so the coin being considered will match those? Or are many low grade and you are embarking on a make over?
If the latter, then you may be better off in the long run looking for nice original ~VF coins. But if your goal is maximum details for nominal prices, then the new one may fit that bill.
It was in a Dansco indian head album. I just wasn't sure if it would be the better choice.

Your coin is 1860, the other coin is 1863.
Apples to apples upgrade?
Be more selective. That is a very common type coin. The scratches on the cheek would cause me to pass.
I upgraded my 1877 to a 1907. Saved a boatload of money.
Be patient, you'll find a better example. Look at hundreds of coins a day if you can, and that experience will enlighten you.
Don't be in a hurry to ever spend money on a "I know it has problems, but" coin as you'll then have that much less money for a better example you see later. As your eye for quality improves, "bargains" you bought will tend to not give you the joy of ownership.
Good advice. If you don't like the coin initially, in my experience, you'll never like the coin.
