Paper money eventually returns to its intrinsic value. Zero. Voltaire. Ebay coinbowlllc
No expert here but I see 64/65 BN.
Beautiful 1844 example. I’ll go 64BN.

64 brown
Love it. Original skin, still retaining a touch of mint luster. Beautiful!
Whatever the grade, if you decide to sell, it should receive a nice premium.
Looks like most of crowd is voting 64 BN, and I agree.

I’ll go along with 64+/-. Is there a bit of corrosion above the “I” in Liberty?
Smitten with DBLCs.
A little spot of verdigris, I think, as it’s green. Not sure if that’s considered corrosion by some, or a precursor to corrosion if it’s not stable and left untreated.
Thanks to everyone. You guys nailed it! Special thanks to @Aotearoa for pointing out the spot of verdigris. Now that I see the spot I can't unsee it and will pass on this coin. Patience I say to myself.![](https://us.v-cdn.net/6027503/uploads/editor/mk/e9ppi8yanad3.png)
Can this coin be successfully conserved?
Possibly, BUT it looks like someone tried previously, based on the color around it.
This may be an indication that it’s neutralized.
If it was mine and raw, I would see if a thorn could carefully pick it off. I would be very hesitant to try to apply any chemicals, including acetone. In a 64 holder, no way, nothing but downside.
