Celebrity Mint

I have no idea what this is, but it looks like the next evolution of Ultra Breaks, Vault Box, and other tchotchkification of the hobby...

I don't know. Hard to tell what that site is selling. [And I'm not giving them my email address to find out.]

Haha. If I had to speculate, it's celebrity signed cert labels.

Just following up on this mystery...

Soooo... if you're interested in paying $299.99 for 2 ounces of silver, or $259.99 for 0.5 grams of gold I've found your shop!

I don't see where the metal is. Like for the Mike Tyson .5g gold... is that just a half gram of gold, paper thin and colorized to look like a card? Or is it paper? They sold 13 of those so far. Wow...

Appears to be something like a foil note. Example

FWIW, these are not all the same. Here is a breakdown of the 'Flair' offering:

This is a US Coins venture, Kenny Duncan has been promoting it. I’m not really sure exactly what’s being sold either but looks like a lot went into it.

It always amazes me when coin collectors don't understand the nature of "collectibles".

You don't buy a Michael Jordan rookie card for the paper content.

[Note: Does that make these a great "investment"? Probably not. But if you collect wrestling items, you can pay more than that for a plastic wrestling doll from the 1990s.]

Items like this have existed for 20+ years. They are neither new nor, in my mind, at all related to UB or VB.

I guess I was expecting more of a coin. And calling it the Celebrity Mint implies some kind of coin or metal content. I never conceived that they would produce a metal card and refer to it as minting. I agree, not related to UB or VB but we didn't know that at the time I made the first post.

  • What a strange offering, I'm sure the 2oz chibi Logan Paul Niue "coins" will maintain their high premium on resale. I also have a very profitable bridge to sell you.

They may not be related corporately, but IMHO, they are similar in that they each involve a chance component.

    Select CM offerings:
    ~ Trading coins (base, colored, and colored with autograph);
    ~ Chibi (colored, and gilded).

Note - the winners are bolded.

Pretty stupid idea IMO, but some people might fall for it.

It's like VaultBox, but worse. :D
