Try calling PCGS lately?

DoubleEagle59DoubleEagle59 Posts: 8,342 ✭✭✭✭✭

Four separate times I've tried and doesn't matter what time I call, the taped recording says "due to heightened demand. our lines are full and unable to answer you today".
Even though I usually call very early in the day.
I could hazard a few guesses why this is so, but I don't want to get a warning from the moderator.
I guess I'll keep trying.

    email works best for me.

Q: When does a collector become a numismatist?

A: The year they spend more on their library than their coin collection.

A numismatist is judged more on the content of their library than the content of their cabinet.

I have not needed to call PCGS in over ten years, partly because I don't use their services. But your concern has been well documented here on the forum over the past several years.

  • The general phone line always has a queue, you should try to call when they open. Get a spot in the queue and wait for a call back.

Yes, but as an on-going condition for over a year and maybe longer, this needs to be handled. I understand the limitations in hiring grading staff, but customer service reps should be a fairly easy staffing situation to overcome and sadly they have not made any progress.

I called right when they opened at 10 am Eastern time on Monday. I mean exactly at 10...not 10:01. I was number 3 in line and waited 10 minutes to speak with a representative.

Use the call back option, worked for me.

Lucky! I called when they open and got number 16 and a few moments later I was caller number 17. BUT I was calling the wrong number for my problem and when I called the one they provided I got service right away. So they fix billing issues quickly at least.

    Just another few points.

First, I realize I should email before calling, but.......

Given that PCGS is a world class coin grading company..............

and most of PCGS's collector base are probably over the age of 65 and phoning is the preferred way of communication .....

and PCGS does charge what I would say is a 'high' price for coin grading when compared to other companies......

You would think they could figure out a fairly economical way to answer the phone during working hours.

That's all I've got to say.

1- That is an absolutely incorrect generalization.
2- I highly doubt this is all you've got to say on the subject.

I had an overbilling situation on a sub.

I sent email but after 3 weeks without any response, I called Tuesday. Got the “call back tomorrow” message. Called back yesterday.

My call filter app (from Verizon) flagged the callback as spam and filtered the call. Now that I’ve permitted that number, wish me luck getting a callback.

Too many hoops to jump through to get a billing problem fixed.

If your credit card fails as mine does every single time my order is ready, they will call.

See this post from @RiveraFamilyCollect. It suggests that there is a dedicated phone number for some "billing issues". One without a queue.

    Might be worth a PM.

  • 1(949) 567-1152 is the billing department phone number they gave me at the time. If you have a billing issue they should provide a phone number in the page that shows the order details.
