Ooops! Big mintage difference between an 1871-S and the 1874-S.

Nice cherry pick!
Did you get it for 71-s money?

That's bad...bad...
Nice slab error! Now maybe I should get a 1871 arrows…

Huge difference in mintages - that's a big oops!
Reminds me of a story from a dealer in NYS that I used to do business with. He bought a raw 1928 Peace Dollar for 1928 money, but it was actually a 1923. Again, oops!
Nice find by the way - nifty, original piece.
Very nicely done!
Score!!!!!!!

That is a great looking half dollar. Congratulations.
I don't collect these but was curious about the difference between the two dates. I looked at the pcgs price guide and I didn't even see an 1874 listed. ??

The 1874-S is a different “Type” as seen below…. There are 6 different “Types”
The 1874-S is a Type 6…
PCGS
71-S= $175
74-S= $400 going up
The 1871-s with arrows is a rare bird.
Also, the difference between a 71-S and a 74-S is a much lower mintage and a much lower survival rate with the 74-S…
There are also MANY less graded by PCGS with the 74-S and way less available in VF and up in the 74-S also.
…for further perspective; there are >100 71-S seated halves posted on ebay currently…. There are 12 of the 74-S posted and most are super low grade or cleaned…
