I currently have two 1883-CC Morgan dollars. One is encapsulated by PCGS and the other is raw. I noticed that the graded one has something going one between the 1 and the 8. There are numerous date-related VAMs for the 1883-CC, but none appear to match this one.
Here is the graded one I'm talking about:

Hard to tell from the picture, just throwing it out there - die chip?
"When they can't find anything wrong with you, they create it!"
I agree. Or it could be a small dig. Hard to tell raised from incuse sometimes.
Yeah, my cell phone photos leave much to be desired. I took the photos through a magnifying glass, so pressing the button was a feat. Lol!
The spot in question is raised. It appears that the anomaly is larger than the two shiny points, almost like it goes underneath the 1 (like an overstamp, not between the 1 and rim.) Obviously it isn't an overstamp, as a 1 is the only thing that could be in that position. I just thought it was strange, and after researching VAMs briefly, I figured I'd mention it here.
