What is the correct service to use for a misattributed error (pictures added)

Friend and fellow error collector has a coin that was certified by our hosts as having a "ragged clip," which on careful examination appears to be overlapping triple curved clips. What would be the correct way to send the coin back to PCGS for a review of the attribution?

My first thought was to use "reconsideration" but really the coin needs to be cracked out to be properly attributed, and my understanding is that the coin gets removed from the holder only if the label has to change. I am wondering if "regrade" is the proper path to take to guarantee the coin is removed and re-examined.

Before I call customer service with the question, has anyone submitted error coins for re-attribution, and if so how did you go about it?

I would say that is THE answer. I’m sure you are right with the correct “attribution” on the error but if the forum can see the coin with the error it will probably elicit better answers to the question. Otherwise, I would suggest the customer service route and explain what you have and see if it is something recognized for proper holdering with regards to the resubmission.

Email Jon pictures of the coin and ask if he personally viewed the coin in hand for the error description. If he did not, submit the coin back to pcgs under a mechanical error, and write on the form something like “Please change the label error description to Overlapping triple curved clips. Please send to Jon Sullivan for review.”

I’ve done this submission style method several times with Fred and once so far with Jon and the labels got fixed every time.

I appreciate this suggestion, thank you. I am certain this coin was graded back when Fred was doing the attributions, but Jon should still be able to correct it if it was mistaken. I'll see if my friend has any good pics and share them here as well.

Edited to add pictures below. I believe it was originally called a "Double End of Strip Clip" because the large clip at K-11 was presumed to be from the end of the strip, and there is a second small rim clip at K-4.

Sean- I'm confused. Are you saying this coin was originally attributed as a ragged clip?

My friend described it to me initially as a ragged clip, but when he sent the photos the holder said "end of strip". Depending on the shape of the edge those terms are somewhat interchangeable, I usually prefer to say "ragged clip" since there is no way to be 100% certain it came from the end of the planchet strip.

When I first read ragged clip, I was looking for something like this. Thanks for the clarification.
