They sold some generation 2 fatty NGC Morgan dollars, I had no idea they were worth so much! An 1884-O in MS63 sold for $880! An 1881 and a 1921 in MS63 also sold near $900!

Sounds about right, add a CAC bean and those numbers would be a few hundreds more. Add a gold bean and add a thousand more.

He sold an anacs 3-digit cert soapbox... wish I had seen that one!

The 1881 is actually a different holder, the logo is heat pressed on the inside. The other two are pressed on the outside.

Many see these coins as upgrade opportunity or toner specialists. Consequently expect aggressive bidding.

:D The 1921 Morgan $ NGC 63 - super PQ nice toner - would markup accordingly certainly much more than its $57 listed CPG value. Then if the buyer wants go for gold sticker have at it. Toner city express vs sticker metro lol. Just dole out your Bens. Tirekickers - Ronnie’s junk box that way>>>

I know that shop, it's where I bought my first Cherrypicker's Guide in the early 1990s. I had no idea they were still in business. Looks like some of those old holders have been in the store since the last time I visited.

Incomplete planchets wanted, especially Lincoln Cents & type coins.

The Downey brothers sold it when they won the lottery and moved to Florida. The current shop is more of a buy it store and some high end stuff gets sold to wealthy collectors out of the shop. They have a lottery section as well, scratch offs, etc..

They are both gen 2 holders, the two with the logo on the outside is Gen 2 the one with the logo inside is Gen 2.1.

For the record, those are much later than you think. They came AFTER the end of the XX#### certs. ANACS converted them to numeric for their database and started by filling out the "missing" values (0, 7, 15, 21, 22, and 25)

    PrefixChars,PrefixValue
    CD,10000
    EX,20000
    JK,30000
    KP,40000
    LO,50000
    LP,60000

    MJ,80000
    NJ,90000
    PG,100000
    PK,110000
    RD,120000
    RE,130000
    SC,140000

    SX,160000
    TR,170000
    TS,180000
    WD,190000
    WE,200000

    WF,230000
    WR,240000

    XA,260000
    ZD,270000

Thus 75, 125, etc. come after the last Amos letter combination (AMOS finished out EX and RE and then used NJ, PG, PK, SC, SX, WE, and ZD) or between 70,000 and 80,000 coins after the sale.

Amazing price for a no mint mark 1881 Morgan.

The coin had nothing to do with the sale price.
