Long Beach Submissions

I think I did pretty well in this endeavor. They were running a crossover special - always welcome to me. 5 of the last 7 didn't get attributed. So that 1797 administrative error will simply be corrected when I resend for variety attribution.

If you choose to “cross at any grade”, then the crossover special serves no benefit to you

Agreed. The crossover special is special in the $15 if it does not cross (was free the first time they did it). I always specify the current grade as the minimum. At any grade is not taking advantage of anything at all.

I guess what I’m getting at is why did you decide to use show grade to cross details coins? Those should go through the cheapest service, not one of the most expensive. Even crack and submit raw might be smarter to avoid the 1% cross fee. Help me understand the logic please.

Also, did all of your coins cross, or did you only list the ones that did?

I left out the DNC lines. One order, the one with details grades, were just ones in PCGS holders that I wanted the variety added to the tag. That was a Show Reholder with variety submission. The last 7 were PCGS a PCGS Regrade order. 5 of them were OGH and I figured I might try to get upgrades, rather than just reholder with attribution. Ended up tgey didn't do the attributions on that order anyway. So they were reholders effectively except for one upgrade: BB-159 from 35 to 40.

I got 11 of 33 in the Show Standard and Show Economy orders. Not sure what is a typical ratio. I have had orders with all DNC, orders with all crossing at or above grade, and everything in between in my experience. 1 cross for 2 DNC is not bad and exactly how this special worked in my favor. 22x$15=$330 is not too bad to have tried the ones that DNCed.

    I had 4 orders:

15 Show Standard Crossover (5 crossed)
18 Show Economy Crossover (6 crossed)
    23 Show Reholder with Attribution
7 Show Regrade (with Attribution, but not able to get done) (1 upgrade)

That order of 23 is where the confusion was.

Also got fees added in the Economy order where the price guide price exceeded the Economy limit. Fair enough.

I always thought that they wouldn't do minor variety attribution in Show Grading and it has to go back to the office. Maybe that's the issue?

I get away with it most of the time. It always helps to put that PCGS number on the form I think. They did attribute 3 of the 4 orders.
