Ebay international shipping program

jt88jt88 Posts: 3,075 ✭✭✭✭✭

I just sold a coin that I believe it is using eBay international shipping program. It is very cheap for the buyer, eBay charged the buyer GST $35.80 that's including customs fee. If I shipped I have to charge $43 for USPS priority mail. So it is good for both buyer and seller because as a seller I don't have to worry about shipping lost and return. According to eBay it will take care of lost and return fee. If you use eBay international shipping please share your experience. I just don't know how long it will deliver to the buyer.

They are converting everyone over this month. We'll know more by Christmas.

And if your buyer buys two items, they have to pay the full shipping cost twice because eBay won’t combine the items.

As I posted in another thread on this topic, coins and paper money are listed as restricted items.
I had a buyer from Peru who was unable to pay for his item and when I contacted eBay they told me it was because I only offered shipping through the new international shipping option and coins were not allowed

I am not sure about that. some of my coins were automatic converted to this new international shipping program. I moved the rest to it now. Please note over $2500 will not qualify for this program.

I guess it might be country by country, so if your buyer can’t pay then you can use regular shipping for that buyer.

In fact, this program exists for years, it was called eBay global shipping program before, but now eBay sweeten the deal to take care of the lost and returned fee for sellers.

Yes, I've been using the global shipping program for years with no problem. It was only after they switched to the new program where I had the problems.

My shipment arrived SYDNEY, NSW in two weeks so it is pretty fast. pretty much the same as UPPS priority.

It's a deal breaker for me on lower valued items - $25 or so in shipping for an item that might cost a fifth or a quarter of that by regular airmail.

I found a high percentage of scammers especially on high value items. Though ebay presumably "has your back" and paypal has its rules designed to circumvent fraud, there are no doubt sellers who fall through the cracks not getting the backing they assumed was on their side.
