Two Results from my Review…

Both my 1955 Koufax and my 1961 Mantle did NOT bump! The only silver lining is that PSA amazingly did not downgrade the cards given the grading standards from Hell…

Maris is still under review by the Devil…

    Sorry to hear.
Doesn't PSA guarantee the grade? If they had downgraded, would they owe you the difference?

Unless things have changed it has always been my understanding that the grade can't be dropped.

Sorry for the shutout mint. That's been my experience as well lately. You'll be lucky if you cross one in 10. It doesn't matter if it's a $1,000 card or a $100 card. I got crushed on both. No more reviews or crossovers for me until I see the standards have fundamentally changed.

The Clemente was the only one to cross over. The Aaron did not even though it's nicer than several of the 8's I've passed on for sale in various auctions.

The Maris crossed to a PSA 7. The Manager's Dream did not even cross to my PSA 7 minimum grade.

The Aaron is an 8. Definitely.
The Clemente also an 8. (The wood grain seems so pale though, especially compared to the Aaron.)
The Maris was overgraded by SGC. Not a 7.5. A 7 looks right.
The Managers Dream would not grade higher than a 6 by PSA, given the white showing on the edges, and the bottom corner.

Aaron is a 7 by PSA new standards. the top right corner is not as pointed as the Clemente , a little white on the bottom rt. corner. and the top to bottom centering is not as good as Clemente. You can't give them the same grade.

Huh? Are you grading the Aaron using PSA's standard grading scale or just comparing it to another card you think is an 8, in this case, the Clemente? That's not how grading works. Maybe the graders are using your approach and that's why so many disagree with the grading lately. Grade a card on it's own merits using a standard. Period. Cards can have different issues and still have the same grade.

    Hi Monte,
Sorry about the results. I felt you had a really good shot at .5 bumps with both. Again, it seems like no matter what cards you send in, a 10% (or less) success rate is most likely the best you can hope for. No matter what PSA says, I would put your 7.5 1961 mantle against just about any 8 that I've seen. Keep us posted about the Maris.
