Beware to ALL sellers on ebay using the ebay international shipping program

Many items are restricted and could be seized at the hub. That includes coins....yes coins. Protect yourselves and your buyers. Use other services like USPS. For my part I live in Canada and buy mostly from US dealers. I just warned all the sellers who sold me my items (in the last week) to not use this shipping service moving forward and if they do it is at their own risk.

As a buyer that started buying items on ebay again I was shocked to learn this today. I spoke to an ebay supervisor since I believe one of my packages may have been seized. I am glad I will be fully refunded by ebay if that is the case. Get the word out and protect yourselves gentlemen. I have 3 packages coming my way one got threw one is stuck or seized and one has yet to arrive to the hub. I have been on ebay for over 20 years with a 100% clean record. This sucks big time to lose items. I rather have my collectibles in the end.

Maybe most dealers here already know this and I am late to the party. But figured if I can help even 1 dealer from having problems it is worth posting.

    Why would they seize coins?
and on what legal grounds are they doing so?

Is this seizure by a sworn law enforcement officer? I can't wait to hear this one!

I don't know but there is a list of prohibited items you cannot ship using this service that includes coins.

I don't know. I was told that coins are on the list of items that cannot be shipped via this service.

I would assume they are simply returning the prohibited items to the sender, rather than 'disappearing' them.

If I am wrong and they don't seize items on that list I will delete this topic since it would be of zero value. It is not a big deal to me since I collect sports cards. But was buying birthday gifts for a close family member. I don't intend on buying many items in this area of collecting.

Appears to be some kind of International trade restrictions law which would be involving import and export rules. Wonder if it's linked to antiterrorism efforts?
On another point, does seizure prevent a return to sender of the shipment?

I have no idea. Hopefully someone here can answer your question. My goal was to help sellers so they do not lose packages. That is my main reason for posting. Not sure how stamps or paper money could used as terrorist material then again I am not a terrorist.

Here is another list found they don't seem to match up maybe this is the old service when items were shipped to Kentucky and not Illinois:

Because of export limitations and restrictions, items listed in the following categories can't be shipped through the Global Shipping Program:

Business & Industrial > Heavy Equipment
Business & Industrial > Heavy Equipment Attachments
Business & Industrial > Websites & Business for Sale
Cell Phones & Accessories > Smart Watches
Coins & Paper Money > Virtual Currency
eBay Motors (Note: Parts & Accessories are supported by the Global Shipping Program)
    Gift Cards & Coupons
    Health & Beauty > Fragrances
Home & Garden > Fresh Cut Flowers & Supplies
Movies & TV > Video Media Accessories
Pet Supplies > Backyard Poultry Supplies
    Pet Supplies > Other
    Real Estate
Specialty Services, with the exception of:
Specialty Services > Custom Clothing & Jewelry > Hats, Handbags & Accessories
Specialty Services > Custom Clothing & Jewelry > Jewelry
Specialty Services > Custom Clothing & Jewelry > Other
    Sporting Goods > Other
    Stamps > Other
    Tickets & Experiences
    Travel, with the exception of:
        Travel > Luggage
        Travel > Luggage Accessories
        Travel > Maps
        Travel > Travel Accessories
Video Games & Consoles > Prepaid Gaming Cards
    Wholesale & Bulk Lots

Note: This is not a full list of unsupported categories. You can list any item with the Global Shipping Program and if the category you’re listing in isn’t supported, we’ll make sure it’s not offered to the buyer (and if you list with any additional international shipping services, we’ll show these instead).

Have any sellers on these boards had any issues with this service?

They don't seize coins. They return them if they violate shipping regulations. This is completely FAKE NEWS.

No. If there's an export problem they simply return the package to sender. I don't know where you got the idea that they seize anything.

I've had them return items. Lots of countries have limitations on precious metal imports. Occasionally, an over zealous inspector returns a silver coin or medal. As a result, I never put metal content on the customs form. While some countries ban precious metals in all forms, most just specify "bullion". Rejecting a silver Canada quarter on its way back to Canada is silly.

Good if I am wrong on this all the better. I am happy if that is the case. I was worried dealers could possibly lose coins.

    Pillar dollar
Two posts on the first page to discuss your worry for eBay sellers. I think you've got your point across. Most eBay sellers here know how to read the rules.
I'd be more interested in learning about pillar dollars. I could care less if an eBay GSP package gets returned not seized.

    Have a nice day

The whole world is changing and not for the better. I stopped buying and selling on ebay 2 years ago and surely Don't regret my decision as it is not like it used to be.

If my international package disappeared, and ebay made me whole, I'm happy.
    I made the sale......

I see this as a good thing as it will stop a lot of the counterfeits coming into the country. Before buying from a foreign seller, buyer needs to inquire on the shipping method and avoid any purchase using this shipping method.

Repetition of ignorance is ignorance raised to the power two.
