I know it's a little awkward to be starting this thread over here, but I just heard that the legendary forum member RickO has passed away. Over the years, I read his posts in the coin forum from time to time and even though I do not collect coins, I always enjoyed his comments because he was a great guy and a forum legend. I remember we discussed his legendary status over here a while back and @thisistheshow tagged him and he stopped by and said hello, I always thought that was really cool. So from all of us over here in the sports forum, here's to you RickO, RIP brother. 🍻

Sad to hear this DD, that name is legendary on CU.
Yes he is, he joined in 2001, over 98,700 comments, legendary.
I also think he had the LOL record we have discussed before
Yes, over 18k LOL, he put up ridiculous numbers!
seen his posts all the time in the humor section. RIP!
Sad news. RIP.

George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.
Not sure if I knew of him. Sounds like he was a great guy and very well liked on here.
Ricko may you rest in peace
...
He mainly posted on US Coins, but you'd see him in the Metal Detecting and Precious Metals forums. I started here via the coins forum, and then found my way more towards sports talk. So I did I interact with him, and shared some PMs. He had served on a sub in the Navy at a similar time to my now deceased Uncle, and we chatted about that a bit, as well as guns/knives which were a favorite topic of his.
As RickO liked to say... If you have two, you have one. If you have one, you have none.
Cheers! RickO🙏
RIP
RIP in peace my friend!
Wow. The king of blast white coins.
"I spent 50% of my money on alcohol, women, and gambling. The other half I wasted.
i was following his post count as it neared 100k. was thinking that CU should go above and beyond in some fashion once he eclipsed it.
thoughts and prayers going out to his family and friends
you'll never be able to outrun a bad diet
He joined in 2001. does anyone know if he was the longest-tenured active member? 22 years is a long time.

We both were on the old board. I don't think he was the 'longest' here but he sure did contribute a lot daily. RIP
......
Yes. I have seen several threads discussing this. So there were some, like you, here as long or longer. I appreciate this! Without your contributions, we wouldn't have this place today, and it is important to me.
I lurked on the US Coins forum for a while before joining the boards. And I was here enough to already know who he was before joining, because it seemed like he was on every thread. He was known of course for signing each of his comments with Cheers, RickO. The US Coin forum, for new collectors, could an intimidating place. There is plenty of snarkiness, especially in response to what is seen as persistent trolling. With the advent of youtube, everyone and his brother was finding coins they thought had valuable errors and posting them. You could always count on RickO to give a polite response telling the person that it had no value, without ever a hint of sarcasm or meanness.
Cheers
May he RIP. My condolences to his fam, friends and all his Ioved ones.
Oh man, I am very sorry to read this. He was posting rather regularly up until very recently, too. Always had a positive word and was an asset to these forums and to the hobby. He will be missed.
Collecting 1970s Topps baseball wax, rack and cello packs, as well as PCGS graded Half Cents, Large Cents, Two Cent pieces and Three Cent Silver pieces.
Very sad indeed. Thanks for mentioning him over here @doubledragon.
He returned after missing a week or two and never mentioned anything about health problems then was gone again and the horrible news was posted of his passing.
