Is there a consensus opinion on the just completed ANA Pittsburgh??

I had anticipated going to the show since it's only a few hours away but scheduling worked against me. As it came close to the actual show there seemed to be quite a bit of excitement, but the subsequent "show reports" fell a little flat. What's the opinion of attendees?? Was the show lacking or is it just that it wasn't rendered well in the reports here??

I drove 12 hours to the show and had an enjoyable time. People seemed to be buying but a lot of deals seemed to be dealer to dealer or YN with boxes of coins doing deals. I was not able to find any coins to buy and was prepared to buy at strong prices if I could find coins I needed.
The attendance seemed light to me compared to CSNS in May of this year. I think most coins are now entering the market through weekly Auctions like Great Collections, Legend and David Lawrence.
Left the show with nothing new except for coins I had already purchased and was picking up to keep from sending in USPS.
It was my best show ever, granted all of my sales were to other dealers. Walking the floor and talking to dealers they all said it was a very good show.
The city was also really nice other than the homeless asking for money.

Show fell flat. Didn’t buy anything. The few coins I did view in hand were priced ridiculously high. Nothing looked “fresh”. Grades on coins submitted for show grade were average, nothing too spectacular.
I liked the city and the venue. It was very tough to find quality coins that I was looking for although I think that speaks more to the market than the show. However, many others seemed to have a similar issue and I think that colored peoples' thoughts about the show.
This was my first ANA. I had a great time but I will never go to another ANA without a direct flight. It was worth it once but not going forward. So I guess I'll be at Chicago next year and then will miss OKC and Pittsburgh the next two years.
Good show
The amount of customers per table was light, but that’s because there were so many tables. I did see companies from Europe there that may not have benefited as much given the expense, but they did get exposure.
I found a few gold coins that I purchased and the experience was good. The city was very cool. People were good.
Total trip there and back was less than $2k all in Tuesday to Thursday.
Two hour drive for me. Found 1 coin which was an upgrade for my set. It came home with me. But I'm looking for upgrades that have single digit pops. Bought a few raw coins ( thank you Charmy ) Went & came home with a bunch of cash. I thoroughly enjoyed the show. Beautiful city and venue.
I rarely attend shows and this was my first ANA show visit. I had a 4 hour drive and spent just one day (Wednesday) walking through the event.
All told I was pleased by the selection of dealers and had a chance to chat with many friendly dealers - making many new contacts along the way.
I had three extras from my Liberty $2.50 PCGS/CAC set to sell. They proved easy to sell and I was able to purchase a gold Daric for my growing ancient set.
My only disappointment was that I could spend only one day at the ANA.

The ANA is always a great show. Even the 2009 Los Angeles event where I saw QDB sitting at a table with ZERO visitors. As usual, this year's event was another sensory and social overload with insufficient time to do everything.
I had a great time and had planned three full days.
Unfortunately, I had to return home Thursday to be with my wife and the cat we thought had had a stroke. So 3-> 1.25
I did meet up with most of my friends. I bought two inexpensive samples. I sat in on one of the club meetings I had planned to attend. I very much enjoyed the PCGS breakfast honoring Mike Standish. The food at the luncheon was good and I was able to sit with a friend from Chicago that I'd only seen once f2f. I handed off a pre-draft copy of the book (I missed the BOAF) so people could see it. Had a lovely chat with the people at the LSCC table about Lane's coins. And I executed (horribly) the NGC Grading challenge. Was the penultimate person in line for one of the CACG giveaways. Whatnot too.
PS: Cat is much improved, it appears it was a slipped disk and she's making progress. Stupid needs to stop jumping down from the couch and use the ramp.
ANA 50 year/Life Member (now "Emeritus")
I have been to 53 consecutive ANA shows. This was the best time that I have had in a long time.
I stayed from Tuesday to Saturday (5 days). Selling coins was easy, buying nice material was limited. As others have said, original and fresh material just was not there. The coins I saw have been listed online for months already for optimistic prices. My main goal for attending was to meet people and that was a huge success!

The historical exhibits have been my main reason for going in the past; at Philly and Boston I enjoyed the shows.
Pittsburgh was a great venue for the show. Home of the Pirates and lots to see in the city. I had two main coin goals. One was to submit my 1884 cc Eagle NGC Ms 61 for crossover to PCGS and to buy a nice 1893 cc half eagle. I succeeded at both. The 1893 cc that was in the Fairmont auction went for close to $10,000 which was too much IMHO. So, I picked up a nice 1893 cc half eagle in AU 58 CAC from Northern Nevada Coin for a fair price. With my leftover cash I searched for my first Saint. I walked the whole bourse and could find only 1 1907 Saint in 64+ CAC. There were other years in MS64 with CAC but not that first year. I bought that for a fair price.
The Pirates played a good game on Thursday and my buddies and I enjoyed it despite a bit of rain. Not enough to stop the game or bother this retired letter carrier. We also found some good eateries in the Strip district.
I should add that I picked up 3 CAC sample slabs and sold them on eBay with a net of $295.00!
That will go towards my Westin hotel bill. Choosing the host hotel was my best decision. It made it easy to see coin over 3 days. I had a great time and was most pleased that my 84cc crossed over. Looking forward to Rosemont next year.
Those are not homeless people , I was born , raised and still live in the Burgh ! … beware of fake homeless people … I once was almost fooled by homeless guy in Pittsburgh I was about give him money he whips out this fancy looking phone … I was like NO WAY ! Instead of giving him money , I gave him small bag of beef jerky I had left in my car … Ha ! He gave me a confused looked I guess he wanted money
most of them are drug addicts just looking for handout money …. Problem is it’s hard to prove they are indeed homeless … few folks have went the extra mile to investigate and watched these so called homeless people and followed them to a home see they lived in an apartment or house they weren’t really homeless at all … over the last 10 years or so I know a lot of “fake homeless” people exploding on every corner everywhere from downtown all way up to monroeville
My ANA experience fell short of expectations but I have no one to blame but myself.
You'd think I'd know better but I was not properly prepared and ended up wandering aimlessly more than I should've.
I also had a bad dealer experience early on that bothered me greatly.
But again, my fault being unprepared.
I was anti-social too. Not pushing myself to seek out forum members or well known people in the biz. That was a shame.
BUT I really like the city and venue. Went to two Pirates games and enjoyed the company of my lifelong friend.
I'll do way better the next time.

My Washington Quarter Registry set...in progress
So, judging only from the responses thus far and the general lack of enthusiastic "Show Report" threads I'd have to say this show fell short of its expectations.
I arrived Tuesday, got the Early Bird pass, and stayed through Wednesday at noon. I went in with a game plan this time and stuck to it. Worked out great. I met a lot of people, some of whom I knew, others I didn’t, and some I had never met in person.
Material for what I was looking for is always tough to find, but I left with a lot more than I expected. I got a great group of pieces for mostly reasonable prices. Perhaps paid strong on some but got a few good deals on others so it evens out.
The city itself was fantastic. My wife and I enjoyed the hotel, the restaurants, and the architecture. We went to the Andy Warhol museum, which was wonderful. Looking forward to going back.
Dealing in Canadian and American coins and historical medals.
This is the second ANA show that I have been to. The first one (Philadelphia, PA 2018) I was only there for few hours as it was mostly to pay for and pick up a coin. We happen to be driving through on our vacation to Hershey Park. I looked around for an hour so no, but not long enough to judge the show. Many more homeless people there then in Pittsburgh.
This ANA, I thought was great. I managed to pick up a few pieces for my U.S. type sets. I found other pieces that I could have bought, but I did not have the funds. The show had a wide variety of coins (ancients, modern, US and foreign) and currency (foreign and domestic) to look at along with graded and raw. Plenty of exhibits, and attractions at the different mint booths. I also saw more young folks that ever before, which is encouraging for the future of our hobby. My only regret was not spending enough time there. I only had a few hours the first day as my flight was delayed for over 4 hours. I had a full second day, but it was not enough time to check out all the tables. If I go again, I will plan for at least 3 full days as I used to do for the National Sports Collectors Convention that I attended when I was collecting PSA graded Nolan Ryan cards.
Overall, I thought it was a great show with something for everyone.

I must not be reading the same show reports as you. Other than some saying a lack of fresh material, looks like it was a great show.
I would say this is a rather subjective conclusion based on limited data, although in fairness you acknowledged the limited data.
