That first decade of his pro career is pretty much lost, so...believe it or not, there are plenty of naysayers out there. To have killed a man in a fight (essentially, dying hours later in a hospital) was surely traumatic, and is just one of the reasons that many feel as though we saw the best of him in that lost decade.
As I learned more about things, his taking the "sugar" moniker was just another reason for me to dislike Sugar Ray Leonard.
