The statesville coin show was last weekend. I went into it with mixed feelings on how the show would be because of it being the same time as ANA. None the less we trekked down from PA to do the show. Friday night we set up our 4 tables and then the club gave us supper of chicken and BBQ which was great!
Saturday started early with a bunch of sales with dealers. Dealers were looking for just about everything honestly. Everything from cents to tokens were selling and this was before the show even opened. One thing I noticed real quick, the premiums on silver have all but disappeared.
When the show opened Saturday, oh my it was NUTS. On Saturday alone they had 703 people come through the door. Again everything was selling and in demand. The collectors coming in had lists they wanted to fill and were ready to look! One great thing I noticed Saturday was the amount of YN's that were there and engaging in buying, selling, and trading with dealers all over the room! The isles were so full some people had to make a loop and come back to our tables later. We were SWAMPED!!!
As Saturday wound down, my wife and myself as well as a number of other dealers went to a very good German resteraunt close by the show. We had of course beer and nice appetizers. The food portions at this place are ginormous and the food is freshly prepared!
Myself and a few other dealers ended the evening with a cigar at a nice lounge down the road.
Sunday was of course slow as normal but we still managed to do some business, both with dealers and collectors.
Once the show was over and we figured out numbers for the show, we figured out that after 12 years in the business and 30 to 40 shows a year, we had one of the best 2 days shows we have ever had.
The statesville-Iredell clubs host a really great show! Some club members help push carts full of our stuff to our tables, and the show has a fantastic Bourse chairman that runs a well organized, laid back, and very secure show. The other club members are always running around asking if dealers need anything, which is always helpful!
We bought tons of coins. Hundreds of new slabs (mostly higher grade PCGS franklin halves and NGC red Lincolns) if you need any let me know haha. We also bought over 900 raw coins in just about every type.
Takeaways from the show...
-Silver premiums like we had during the pandemic are pretty much gone.
-coin market seems to still be pretty good for raw stuff and collector type stuff at least in Western North Carolina
-nice coins are being brought in the door to buy
-and I learned that I really like German beer

Never knew Statesville had a German restaurant. Good people down there, I’ll have to attend one day.
There is another show in the spring at the same place. The German resteraunt is about 6 miles from the show
HAPPY COLLECTING
