Any new die state or error will now automatically be counterfeit... WTF PCGS!!!

    That is not my interpretation of the announcement.

    If anything, it will help to automatically flag varieties, errors, stolen items, or potential counterfeits for further review by PCGS graders and experts.

    I'm sure that anything picked up by AI is then manually inspected and then properly handled from there. They aren't stupid.

    First, that isn't a new announcement. Second, as someone noted in the other thread, the software is comparing a coin to known counterfeits that have already been determined to be a counterfeit by a human.

    who needs ai? a great scanner and a CNC mill will put all the right moves on a piece of metal.

    would faking the exact orientation of the reeds be necessary, too?

    toning would protect many coins that haven't turned, assuming good pictures were taken previously.
