Thanks for looking. I had to stretch a little bit on this one but IMHO the toning and grade were spot on considering the strike on this issue is normally weak. I'm seeing a decent strike here and I jumped on it. I was bid up quite a few times by another bidder but it's understandable, considering in 66 (the next full grade up), this coin is nearly impossible.
Always looking for attractive rim toned Morgan and Peace dollars in PCGS or (older) ANA/ANACS holders!

I love it! It's got great, original color and clean surfaces. How is the luster in-hand? It appears that it might be mute, which might be why it did not grade higher.

Not a toner guy, but congrats on your purchase!
My personal perspective is I'm not a big fan of the tone and I've never been a fan of the peace dollar design, so it really doesn't do much for me. But it sounds like you are very happy with and enjoy this coin as a part of your collection, so I say congrats on your acquisition.

I like the coin! It looks highly original, clean, and while not gorgeous, still attractive.

Nice coin!
The TV is considerably more appealing than the slab shot in the GC auction IMO. Curious to know what it looks like in hand.

I thought it was a 22-P at first. Really pretty for a 22-S. Most people don’t really understand how unusual these are over MS65. The toning isn’t for everyone, but I like it.
I find it to be attractive. Looks original with a decent strike.

Agree that the GC pictures show dark brown toning, whereas the TV has a lighter orange look. Had to do a double take to make sure I was seeing the correct coin.

If the toning on the coin matches the TV then I am a huge fan of the toning. If it matches the GC photo then I am not super exciting about the toning but appreciate its originality and wouldn't kick her out of bed.
Don’t like it - mainly due to the dark spots on obverse. Not a toner guy. I hope you weren’t bid up too high.
I prefer brilliant lustrous vs toned.
@TomB I don’t have it in hand yet.
Thanks for the feedback everyone.
I find GC pictures to be improving but not quite equal to the in-hand coin itself. I imagine the coin will be between the TV and GC images toning wise but I’m more impressed by the strike quality for this date & MM.

Nice Russett toner!!
You are correct - the 22S is hard to find in such a strong strike - well done
Toners aren't for everyone, but I like 'em. This one would be one helluva nice upgrade for my set. Enjoy!
