1980 penny has me stumped it’s weighing in at 2.86-2.88 grams

So I don’t know if this is a rusty coin or just extremely worn, which is kind of where I think this coin is going, but even after thousands of 1980s (maybe not that many but last haul was 16 boxes of Pennie’s and I’m still going through those pennys, I have never ever came across one quite like this or an 1980 being this lightweight.it appears also to have silver undertone bleeding In with the redbrown/rusty color, it doesn’t stick to. I’d love to hear everyone’s thought still though

The scale shows 2.97 which is within the +- allowance.
Not sure what the picture of the nickel is for.
No that 2.97 was for my 1945 penny I clicked that one by mistske
It clumped a couple together I’m still learning lol
Why are you wasting your time weighing a badly corroded cent like that?
If you are referring to the new photos, then corrosion has eaten some of the surface away
allowing for the .1g lightness. Just a damaged cent worth 1 cent.
This.
My Collection of Old Holders
Never a slave to one plastic brand will I ever be.
This hurts me to the core. I remember as a kid in early 1980 looking for a shiny new penny to celebrate the new decade.
Environmental damage.
Weight random coins is a time waster and a dead-end.
Weight can be important when diagnosing an issue that is otherwise apparent.
That's a lucky score.
