Anyone spot this 1838 25c in 66 OGH CAC?
Stumbled upon this on eBay yesterday and it was pulled off shortly after. Guessing it sold at ANA as US Coins and Jewelry had it. No auction records and top pop CAC. Neat piece. Anyone see it at the show….or buy it?

Nice coin! Can't lie, I'm disappointed it not a Seated Quarter which I was expecting from the thread title.
I didn’t notice that but it would have been fun to see it in person. It looks like a monster. I’m always surprised when these big coins come out of the woodwork, especially onto eBay.
For bust quarters in particular, I think it points to a lack of collectors at the top end right now. It’s an opportunity for someone.
Speaking of opportunities at the top end, Legend was advertising the Perfection Collection of Capped Bust Quarters for their upcoming Regency sale, including this monster 1837 MS67PL CAC:

So here’s the back story on that coin- I frequent my LCS and the owner is in his 70s- he’s edging towards retirement and has a large collection of coins (several hundred) that he submitted for slabbing in the early days when the services were just getting started- he brings out a few every year and sells them.
I picked this up in the shop and from me it wound up at US Coins. It is really a beautiful, original coin, but I don’t collect the series and it’s not a proof so it’s not really a coin that fits into my collection.
But it was so beautiful I couldn’t resist, and I enjoyed it for 6 months or so. Showed it to Dr. Link at a show and he liked it very much.

@Floridafacelifter thats an incredible coin, thanks for the backstory. I envy your LCS.
If he has several hundred coins of that caliber I’d show up every week just in case!
Haha I do roll in every week almost- never hurts to ask- this week three interesting raw coins but nothing like the Bustie

78CC with some golden toning
An ugly little III cent
And a possibly fake double struck Fugio
It's on eBay now.
