Common sets question

So I looked at my account info and realized that I have been a member here for almost 20 years....I have never had "loads" of extra cash to spend on coins but I got the collection bug and my passion was always finishing a set...cents, nickles. dimes, halves and dollars...ASE and British Silver Britannia.... at one point i was destined to have an example of every Carson City type coin (accomplished that, the seated Dollar was the toughest on my budget)
My question is, is it better to part out a set to sell or keep the set whole?
I have so;d a few of my sets in the past whole but they were to buyers that I met face to face...

Far more times than not, a seller will do better selling the coins individually. That's because, while many potential buyers might have interest in one or a few of the coins, they might not be interested in or able to afford the others. So by offering the coins as a set, you're limiting your would-be buyers.

+1 what MFeld said.
Mark covered it well, I'll only add that selling as a set can simplify and speed up the process as you won't have to deal with multiple buyers and multiple shipping.
