mail service getting worse

i have always had good luck with mail delivering coins ordered from ebay. i dont know it its the mail or if its the tracking numbers and barcodes provided by ebay but in the last month my deliveries have come late now they are getting completely ost in the system at this moment i have two coins lost in the system on the tracking tells me nothing that is with the ebay tracking number that staarts with E the other with the usps tracking number tells me its lost within a 15 mile area between fort worth texas and azle texas just back and forth so far 4 times thats probably the ebay bar code on the envelope. what happened to using the address written on it along with zip code zip tells you area address well thats where it goes . why do they read the barcode and even when it reads the wrong address they ignoere the written address. i went to the post office and they lied to me saying tracking had it wrong and that they would have it today now tracking says right before i walked into post office they sent it to fort worth even though i average (until now) a package a day they would know my address by heart we are a small town. is anyone else hacing problems with mail service??

Yes, ever since the “ground advantage” service went into effect in early July, I’ve had multiple packages lost, and everything is taking multiple days longer to arrive than before. Advise would be to fully insure and get your documentation in line early because you’d better be prepared to file a lot of claims

Several recent “ground advantage” parcels have taken days longer to arrive than the posted USPS standards, and historical precedent. Hopefully they are just working out some kinks in the new system and it will be back to normal soon. It may make sense to pay the extra for Priority in the meantime.

I don't buy many coins anymore, but my mail service for packages has been mostly excellent both ways.

Someone opened my mint sealed box and ripped literally ripped open my interior box (1 of 10) and just threw it back in and sloppily taped over the original mint tape. I was furious to say the least and went first to my carrier then to the post office. No satisfied answer. Post office Just said is anything missing, which there wasn’t. Carrier was not sure why there wasn’t any documentation inside the package notifying me that the package was damaged and retapped. I got a return label from the mint and sent them back. USPS, not what they used to be in my opinion.

Yes, I ship 75+ packages per week and I haven't noticed anything unusual.

I've been pretty lucky I feel... outbound, all but one have made it on time or early. Same with inbound... only one went astray to Washington instead of Vegas so it get delayed. Otherwise its been ok. The last one that was late incoming was several months ago.

I sent a registered package last month. It took 18 days to reach its destination. It got stuck once for 5 days and once for 9 days. Both of those hiccups happened within easy driving distance of my house. That's a new personal worst record for me, even for registered.

Just for fun, I did some math...... For the first 16 days of the trip it averaged less than 1/2 of a mile per hour. For comparison, a tortoise can manage 3 miles per hour. I would have saved 12 days if it went the first few legs on the back of a tortoise!!!

While I don't ship very often the last few items that I have received were slower than usual, summer doldrums, no AC in the delivery trucks, who knows.

I have 8 items with tracking numbers that are currently in the hands of the USPS and at least half aren’t going to arrive by the original delivery date estimate based upon where they are at now.

The only issue I’ve had with USPS lately is that they placed a package that required a signature in my mailbox and marked it as though I had signed for it.

Always bad here this time of year with vacations causing lack of sorting and delivery. Priority mail often twice as long and days of no delivery at all

I think the problem is regional. The service, for the most part nationwide seems OK, but a lot slower for sure.

I haven't had any recent problems, and everything I ordered has made it to me.

Just this week had an item show delivered and left with individual in the wrong zipcode. Post office basically said that there is nothing they can do and hopefully the "individual" returns it.

I have not noticed any deterioration in service.

I agree. Incoming to me from anywhere in and out and to the east coast the next day. Then it sits two days before going to our local office 20 miles away. Then it takes two days before scanned as received there and is delivered on the fifth day

I have a package on 6 days now. Tracking showed Wednesday delivery, then Thursday. It's not here today so maybe tomorrow. This is an expensive coin. It does make me feel uneasy.

There is good reason our host ships with FEDEX. Two days from California to Florida. The driver even asked for my signature.

In that case you go to your local PO and ask them to call for you or if there's another number for the one you are trying to reach.

I drove to the PO and asked three or four times toward the end. They looked it up and sent e-mail inquiries to the involved POs. They never could figure out why it stayed in each place so long or exactly where it was. Bottom line - they were of zero help.

Ever since the USPS switched to ground advantage things have been slower and taken some peculiar routes, but luckily I have received all of my packages. FedEx on the other hand...

I'm sure it varies by location, but where I live FedEx is unreliable to put it nicely. Here is a a picture taken earlier this week of a FedEx driver driving down the road with the back of the box truck open.

This is what I absolutely hate about the USPS. I've rarely had a problem, but when I do, the answer is - "sucks to be you". And I have NEVER had a call returned by anyone at the USPS who said they'd call me back.

For what it's worth, as far FedEx vs UPS: I've had my share of problem with UPS. FedEx has been great.

It didn't involve registered, but my past experiences were more positive than yours. They should have called the other POs instead of sending emails. I wonder what their SOP is for handling registered that allows them to get bogged down so much.

In rural nowheresville where I live, I’m told only one or two people in each PO are authorized to move registered stuff. If they’re on vacation or don’t happen to look in the vault that day, it probably just sits there a while. That was my local guy’s opinion.

I was actually googling how to submit a lost mail claim when happened to get a text update.

In my 21 years on Ebay never had a package stolen or lost. Just once a package was damaged and I was fully refunded but that was years ago (was no an expensive item but rare so that one sucked). On more expensive items I use FeDex by far the best service but again I can't complain about registered or express mail either. I am now done selling so that is now behind me (just sold my last few items this month all arrived to the buyers and positive feedback received). I will still buy of course moving forward. But I pay for registered or express mail and I am also OK with 1st class mail when items are below 500$.

And I am located in Canada. Sent lots of packages to the USA over the years. Within Canada I pay for express mail and 99% of the time it takes only a few days to receive the package it can be a bit longer if it is far far away from me.

I have had a few scares when tracking took weeks sometimes but all that anxiety was wasted since they all ended up arriving. Worst time to buy is mid November to mid January each and every single year it is the exact same thing. I skip that period if I can to avoid unnecessary stress. I mean items coming from the USA to me in Canada. Within Canada with express it is always fast even during that period it may take 1-2 days more but big deal.

Well since I reported little to no problems... One outgoing package is delayed and one incoming package is delayed. Incoming delayed by a day, outgoing so far by at least 2 or 3 days. 😒
