Due to mechanical issues, I landed in Pittsburgh at 9:15a today after a red eye from the West Coast. I was dead on my feet all day and am fading fast. Met a number of board members, everyone was great.
I was looking for nice and original type 2 and type 3 Liberty $20s. I eventually found what I was looking for but the pickings were very slim for quality coins. I'm normally a jump first and ask questions later kind of guy yet I had a hard time finding something to throw my money at.
I could not find a single other coin I had to have and my want list is not particularly short and I came fairly well funded. I did manage to pick up a copy of David McCarthy's new pioneer gold book which looks fantastic.
Everyone I spoke to seemed to be having an average plus type show this far. PCGS didn't seem to have much of a line all day and my submission was quick and efficient. Convention center is great with good lighting and tons of security everywhere including uniformed police by the entrance. Downtown Pittsburgh is lovely and fun, very walkable with tons of restaurants and bars.
Now I'm going to bed.

Nice choice going with something a bit more interesting than a 1904 for your type 3. Looks like it was TrueViewed in the slab (can see the prongs), so guessing it’s CAC’d.
Love the OGH + CAC + CC combo on that wholesome type 2.
Sweet dreams 😴
Nothing is as expensive as free money.
Thanks for posting your report, and glad you found a few new coins….. and hopefully a decent craft beer!
It’s really random but I saw you buy that book and walk away with it 🤷🏼♂️
Good to meet you kind of?

Thanks for taking the time to write up the report. I really like your new $20's. Great additions to your collection. I hope the beer was enjoyable too.

No one that goes to downtown Pittsburgh should not check out the Original Oyster House...been around for over 150 years....I used to get a kick from the miss American pics on the wall
