While secrets exist, there were some meant to be kept hidden but beans were spilled and the story got out. Here's a thread hopefully dedicated to some fun stories

may the fonz be with you...always...

William Sheldon stole coins from the ANS and replaced them with lesser grade duplicates.

There’s nothing like a good rip huh? The thrill of the hunt / excitement of the kill.

Well - on the bourse have heard a few stories on the buy and sell side. But not a cool topic to discuss. So somebody else would need weigh in.

You can fund several college tuitions, a summer home, and early retirement for the proceeds garnered, if you've got the eyes to see.

You don't think that belongs on the best kept secrets thread?
Is it just me that doesn't know the full story?

No TPG--not even this one--is infallible regardless of what the Kool-Aid drinkers say. All of them make mistakes.

Just because I'm old doesn't mean I don't love to look at a pretty bust.

There are many threads on the topic. You may have to search pkok instead of peacock as PCGS used to block naughty words more aggressively then they do today.

I know about the threads and I even had my own thread. No one ever confirmed the doctor responsible and very few even showed photos of what the coins looked like.

Excellent points. I think TRUTH took all evidence of this hoard with him.

Exactly why I no longer attend coin shows. I've overheard those type of stories too.

    Hmm. Tricky.

    Omega Man counterfeits?

The existence of 1933 gold Saints, 1974 aluminium pennies and 1964 Peace dollars?

Waste no more time arguing what a good man should be. Be one.

If you go to the secret side door of the Philadelphia Mint (and it looks just like regular brickwork), and give the correct secret knock, they will let you pick samples from the secret vault where they have tubs of every coin the mint has ever made since the 1850s.

If you are talking about Kolor Kraft I responded in another thread but don't remember what one.

It was the thread I mentioned and that was the most info out there. No one else confirmed or denied what you wrote. And there weren’t many photos posted.
