1916d dime is it real?

I went against my normal buyers criteria and bought a raw, instead of graded, 1916d Mercury dime. I consider it to be an ag3 and i was able to get it for less than bid from a source I have used in the past with no issues. My source said it’s real and it looks real to me.
I would use it as a book filler and sell my slabbed 16d.

Looks fine to me. I have owned five certified 1916-D dimes, and every one showed the slight rotated reverse.
Is that a gauge to the right of the bust?
Could be real. It's angled and approximately the right shape. But I always find it gard to be 100% certain with that much wear and a little ding(top serif?) on the mintmark.
Looks real.
From what I can see in the images, yes.

I guess I like to visualize it...
Looks real but damaged. It would be a good hole filler for someone on a budget.

As said it looks real but that scratch/graffiti in the obv field kills the value, how much will depend on the buyer.

The OP questioned only the authenticity, not the grade.
Real 16-d. Great album filler.

He may have only questioned the authenticity but on a public coin forum with pictures of the coin in question it’s only human nature to critique the said coin which IMHO seems to be very appropriate.
Hopefully quite a bit less than bid considering the damage.

I have not seen anyone question the grade, only pointing out the damage and the corresponding reduction in value.

A super hole filler. Has good value, although on these Boards, if it isn't a Gold CAC'd XF45 (PCGS White 108, of course) with original Wayte Raymond target iridescent toning that you got for $400 . . . you might as well throw it out into the WalMart parking lot. :-)

Even if someone had questioned the grade, I wouldn’t see a problem with that - especially since the OP provided his own opinion.

I literally laughed out loud!

Mine on the right is graded PCGS FR2 if that helps. Yours is the one on the left. I’m not quite sure.
Looks ok to me.
Thank you everyone for your objective input.
Personally I usually place low grade key dates in my books and keep the higher grade coins in PCGS/ngc slabs.
I figure worst case I can always get my money back if I ever decide to sell this coin.
If in fact it ever did relocate to a Walmart Lot, somehow I think it would find it's way back on this forum.
