NFC Chip not working on delivery? *update*

So today I got my sovereign back from PCGS, when I scan it, the chip brings up the CERT app, but says invalid number, however, scanning through the camera, the barcode, it brings up the cert just fine and everything in there is correct, the True View is showing, etc. etc.

My friend got his submission back today with several coins and everyone of his was doing the exact same thing. and on three different phones, so I know it’s not my phone

Is this normal? I have a theory, perhaps these chips are deactivated until a certain amount of time after confirmed delivery? To keep people from scanning the boxes in transit? Does anybody know?

This is what comes up when I hit the button:

The chip activated immediately so the chip is working. It’s just like it’s not connected to the cert number or something.

The NFC generated code has to match the corresponding entry in the PCGS database. It is possible they didn't get entered into the database. Or the NFC chip in the coin isn't the correct one or the entry into the database isn't correct.

Why keep something that’s not working right? Send it to me, and I’ll mail you $10 to take it off your hands! 😂

I have had this happen before, contact customer service and they can fix it.

Were they able to fix it from their end?
I’m assuming so, Surely I don’t have to send the slab back…?

I had this same issue as well and posted about it (maybe earlier this year?). When I called customer service the rep wasn’t very helpful but another member here suggested that I should reach out to Heather. She was able to quickly get in touch with someone at PCGS that resolved the problem!

Yes it was all fixed on their end, I don't remember the process but once they saw what was going on it was fixed quickly. I think I had several consecutive coins from that submission that did not work.

Glad to see it's been fixed.

Apparently it was a system lag, it took a few weeks, but everything started to read so the chips were good all along… Just wanted to update this for the future reference.

Heather and the management at PCGS have been excellent helping resolve this!
