1955 Topps Hank Aaron SGC 5 high end $1325 obo

Is the 75 Ryan offered a Mini?
The photo shown appears to be the regular issue,
Did you grab the wrong photo?
I am looking for a mini....

As for the Ryan rack - was it encapsulated and holdered by BBCE?

    Really nice Keith!

Hope you had a good time at the National.

That 8.5 looks as good as a 9 I have; great centering buddy.

Best of luck in selling. 👍

Yes we did - Misty even made it this year for the first time in 3-4 years. She picked up some nice memorabilia as well. Is your Ryan PSA 9 a mini or regular - would love to see a scan of it. Hope you are doing well.

    Just found it Keith.

In fact, I think your 8.5 looks better than my nine.

The 1955 Aaron is my favorite card of him during the Topps run from 1954-56 using the same central image. The secondary illustration shows Aaron swinging a bat as opposed to fielding in 1954 and the "pinch runner" , Willie Mays sliding into home plate in 1956.

The yellow background makes his dark skin and image standout.

Love it that very few people know it is Mays sliding into home on the Aaron 56 card. Seems like 55 Koufax and Aaron have strong colors while Mays and Clemente are more subtle.

    Price adjustments 8-8-23.

    Robinson - $1680

    Aaron - $ 1490

Robinson is Keith Jr’s card he is selling to get his first 1956 Mantle in mid grade.

Wish him well on the 56 Mick. That is a wonderful '55 Jackie; I have one in 4 that unfortunately seems like a gift grade, the corners are so distressed, probably should have been a 3 and I don't doubt it would be if regraded -- but it is what it is and bought super long ago, so not current pricing anyway. GLWTS of these gems!

Ok those are both so high end for the grade it hurts. These is the kind of cards where technical grading has flat out failed us.

Thank you for the nice note, and I try to grab some cards with decent eye appeal.

FYI - these are listed on eBay as well, and for those interested please get them here so you save some $$ on taxes…

Why is that Aaron card graded a "5"?

Did they or do you have an indication of why, as it doesn't present like a "5" - more like a "7" or higher, IMNSHO.

    Enjoy your collection!

I think there is a tiny wrinkle on back that warrants the 5 grade. It is not a crease but a little wave. Since most people don’t look too much at the back if a card is going to have a blemish that is the way to go.

Jackie card has been sold. The 55 Aaron and 75 Ryan are still available for sale and taking offers. No trades please unless you have an extra 56 Mantle PSA 8.5 for sale 😉

55 Aaron looks just too nice as an EX, though I understand the wrinkle reason. Wrinkles aside, it sure seems like vintage these days is being graded with an inaccurately-strict eye. GLWTS of the Ryan and Aaron!

Thank you for the nice note. Robinson might be available now. Long story but guy on eBay sends me a note last night asking about taking an offer. I was out and come back an hour later to see the card is sold and paid. I package it up and wrap it in bubble wrap and box it up to send out this am and buyer is super excited about the card. Wake up and get an email this morning asking to cancel the order. States that there seems to be an indent and wrinkle in the auto area of Jackie, and if I am going to list it as high end the card should not have these issues. ??🙄

So as a buyer you see a card on eBay, see the images and like them enough to make an offer. Within an hour you decide hit the BIN and pay for the item and send a message how excited you are and please send it usps priority. Then without any other interaction or updated photos you decide the seller misrepresented the card and it has issues and you want to cancel. Literally cannot take any more of this #%@& with the hobby. Almost to the point I am going to list a bunch of Mantles and other cards and take the $$ and buy a sports car and say adios. Great rant huh 🤣

Ah, sorry for the hassles! Sounds more weighted toward "flaky buyer" who realized they shot off more than they could afford, vs. something objectionable on the card.

  • KendallCatKendallCat Posts: 3,000 ✭✭✭✭✭

No worries. Funny thing is he has contacted me a couple of times since asking some questions. Think he changed his mind, but if I sell the card it won’t be to him. If he asks again he is being told I will cancel the sale - would like the sale and money but he had his chance.

    1975 Ryan mini is sold.

  • KendallCatKendallCat Posts: 3,000 ✭✭✭✭✭

1955 Jackie is sold - only one left is the 55 Aaron which is probably the nicest of the 3 in person. Had a guy at the show I set up today ask me “how is that only a 5? What do you have to send in to get an 8?” Might have a few big ones (Mantle’s) to possibly list in the near future if I upgrade to a bigger Mantle. Have a few extra 56’s and this guy below.
