Let me guess where you grew up. Amazing group of Clarkes. Only collect OPC? Used to go out of my way to catch the Flyers of this era down at Olympia!
Thanks for sharing those.
Mark
Thanks, Mark. Yup, Philly guy. I grew up in the wake of the great Broad Street Bullies era. It was everywhere and the culture was palpable. I loved it. Still do.
I’m not only an OPC guy, but I thought it would be harder to get the OPC ones than the Topps. I’ll share another famed Flyers players in a minute.

Love the pre-rookies!
"My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. Our childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When we were insolent we were placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds - pretty standard really."

hey MinorLeaguer ,
Oh Wow !!! Very Impressive...
If he had the Orr Crown Royal Oshawa card in PSA 8 then no one could match his ML hockey cards.
I believe there are Beliveau and Plante ML cards also.
That would be an absolute thrill to own any of those that u mentioned in any grade. That 1957-58 Tee Pees Mikita in this thread has a total pop of just 4 with the highest a PSA 4. That’s insanely rare. Those type of rare cards to me are priceless and should be the ones to command big bucks. Sometimes they do and sometimes they don’t. You could go decades without one coming up for sale. I enjoy searching and viewing the showcases on the registry as some collectors have some really unique, rare awesome stuff and I love seeing them and appreciate they shared them with the community as even though we don’t own them, or maybe can’t even find them, or afford them, we can still enjoy them!

We have similar collecting desires in that we both enjoy hard to find items that others may or may not know about.
Here’s one that only has one on the PSA population report. It’s an authentic. This is probably a PSA 5. Lemieux only did one show ever where you could bring him your items and he will never do one again. He’s also said he will never do send ins again.
A well known older gentleman in Pittsburgh who owns all but two of his cards autographed does not own this one.
As of now there are only two known of these to exist.

I do usually limit myself to 1980 or so but in these cases I DO make exceptions. Hopefully you were able to scarf most of these up when the getting was good! Can't do much better than Gretzky
Going through some stuff that has been sitting around for years. To celebrate the opening of the 2023/2024 Hockey season, here's a couple of cards still in the top loaders that came from a Teletrade auction in 1995.
For those that never had the opportunity, the auctions were done with the touch-tone buttons on your phone!!
Always love to see what else you all have laying around...
I know nothing of Hockey, but cherry picked 2 best shots at high grade from an auction lot I bought.
Recent pop and both came back 9s.
They were a little low top to bottom. Maybe 60/40 or a little less, and eye appeal was pretty good, I thought.
(Still waiting on PSA hi-res scans)

Upper Deck Series 2 already pricey. Preordered 2 boxes and likely overpaid and won’t get a Bedard but will be fun to try.
I enjoy opening Skybox so preorders blasters for that. Seem like a better deal than hobby.
That would be a fun rip! Hopefully plan on going to the Toronto Fall Sport Card Expo in November and Series 1 is usually out around that time, it would have been insane to see how busy PSA would have been grading all the Bedard young guns if he had been placed in Series 1 insteadof Series 2 as PSA will be grading on-site at the Toronto Expo for the first time.
So PSA will give an 8 with the black puck scratched off?
Yes and they will also give a 9 to the 1980 Topps Basketball pinups with a big crease running down the center. Just a FYI in case you've never seen one of those with your own two eyes 😉

Hmm, I don't get your joke, but my issue with the Basketball pinups receiving a 9 grade, was not the factory crease, but the paper discoloration on half of the back due to being exposed to the elements, sun, pollution, cigarette smoke, etc.
Figured I post this here instead of the pick up thread. It arrived yesterday just before the Sabres first win of the season. I haven’t added an item to my collection in years but I’ve been searching. This has been on my watch list for about 5 years and I’d about given up hope of finding one. I was hoping for just 1 stub but found 4 complete tickets. The tickets are for the last game the French Connection ever played together. Robert was traded just before the start of the 1979-80 season. They also combined for their last goal together. Perreault from Martin and Robert on the PP.

Nice display. I'm not a fan of electronic tickets... "Get off my lawn!"
Thanks! I started stacking Price cards before the Habs went on that crazy Cup run. Had a feeling he wasn't done yet (sure is now). Picked up stuff like YG Exclusive, low numbered Ultra's, the OPC /25 and /100, Ultimate /100, etc etc. All quite cheap for how popular a player he is/was.
If only MTL had a decent team during his great stretches., I think he could have been an all time great but alas they never built around him, and the one Cup run Kreider that tool, took him out.
Nice pickup! I was debating picking up that card a few years ago but that ship has sailed….

I’m a Habs fan also and a Roy and Price guy I feel the same way about a team around him and being as revered as Roy among goalies. Damn Kreider!
I never did hockey but those 1992 and 1993 Ultra sets are rather tempting and would go great with the baseball/football/basketball sets I already have! I think once upon a time you could get a master set (all inserts) of the 1992's at least for fairly cheap...

hey ahopkins ,
Oh Yeah....Totally love your rack....That's Cool....
I don't collect hockey and really don't know the rules.
I used to buy misc. lots from Greg Manning and Rotman auctions.
This card came in a misc. lot back around 1992 - cards were about 4 to 5 bucks per.
I didn't realize what this card was until I went looking for cards to submit in a club sub.
Came back an 8 - nice surprise for a few bucks!
Love the pre-rookies!

LOL. Teletrade. Now that is a blast from the past that I had completely forgotten about.
In honor of hockey season, here's a pic of a few of
my all time favorite players...
Wow, that Parkie Beliveau/Richard/Howe card looks great. The signatures really pop nice! Orr card is fantastic too. Thanks for sharing.
Mark
What product this year will contain the most elite Connor Bedard rookie to pull? Is it still UD The Cup?
To celebrate Bedard’s debut a classic Blackhawk. 1st Assist tonight in the second - hoping for first goal in the 3rd.
I know nothing of Hockey, but cherry picked 2 best shots at high grade from an auction lot I bought.

I was kind of hoping the Red Wings could get some draft lottery luck this year. Didn't happen for them. Thanks for sharing an old time nemesis.
Mark
Good eye! Two nice looking cards. Congratulations.

The CUP for sure, which has a strange release schedule. They don't even have a date as of yet.
In addition to the Cup I would add:
Young Guns from series 2. There will be a 1/1 this year in addition to High Gloss, Exclusives, and other variants.
FWA from SPA is another.
Kevin

I wasn't too sure myself with the "Scratch-Off"
A recent pick up for the "Master Set"
Wasn't sure either. I have several of the same card that were scratched off. I guess I should do a closer examination of those.
Mark

I'm afraid my closer examination is going to reveal that I stopped handling the scratched off cards with tender loving care.
