This is the variety where the reverse die crack goes fro rim to rim half way up. It is described as Die State III. Does anyone here know how many examples exist? There are 2 au50 PCGS examples as the highest graded examples. Listed in PCGS CoinFacts.

The September 5, 2011 Goldberg Dr. Hesselgesser Collection auction of early dollars by die variety had an AU-50 example along with updated survival estimates which were lower than the 1993 Bowers dollar encyclopedia, with estimates of 31 to 75 compared to 300 to 500. Don't know if anyone has more up to date estimates.
