Just Picked up this 1989 fleer unopened wax pack box for $50 it was $65 with shipping and tax, wanted to see what y’all thought, I thought the interesting part was the number on the shipping box could be the one with errors.

Nice. Ripping or saving?
Bosox1976
Saving going to be buying more in the future and will eventually open one.
FYI, that date is after the final correction to Randy but the Ripken FF should still be possible.
What date was the Randy Johnson rookie that was still available to find the error.
Rip the whole thing and grade every card at the National. Your heart will be filled with joy and PSA will be forever thankful. Do it. Go big or go home. LOL.
I have 12 error boxes - can send a pic of the case # I opened if folks are interested 8——

Slow down we are not talking 1990 Fleer basketball here.
Lol 😭
I would love to see
I recently bought the last (?) 3 boxes BBCE had.
Got one Ripken uncorrected and one with the black box.
Got a Griffey in each box. Not worth much right now, the uncorrected Ripken is the most valuable as far as I can see at around $500.00. Griffey Jr is now a $200.00 card.
When bbce has them in stock how much do they usually cost?
Your case will have the Ripken FF error, since it is below 90172. Numbers higher than 90172 typically contain the black box correction. The Randy Johnson errors and tints are only in case codes starting with an “8”. Hope this helps.
Can't remember, they were part of a bigger order and I deleted the information.
Less than $50.00 per box, but I remember thinking I would have broke even at best without the FF card. It looks like it might 10.
Thanks looks nice
hey JoeBanzai,
on your cutting board, is that evidence of card trimming…
Absolutely.
Definitely not chopping advils there
I am interested - very interested. Big 1989 Fleer collector.
Please let me know, thanks!
Let this be a PSA - I am interested in any unopened 1989 Fleer baseball product, minus sets.
Cases, boxes, packs (racks & cellos), please let me know!
I have one wax box left of 89 Fleer and 87 Donruss, bought them in 1989. May rip the fleer but I have been saying that for years.
I'm kidding.
I thought you were a social influencer and dead serious.
My apologies
Here are some pics
No Advil.
Cut several golf sheets for another member here. He was quite happy with the results.
Also been cutting Post Cereal, Kraft, and various box bottom cards.
That's Cool...
Nice that would have the randy Johnson and billy Ripken errors, were did you find that case?
Bought it 2017 or so time frame…eBay sealed and someone had written in it DO NOT OPEN…..I have opened a few sold one or two, gave one to a buddy….it has all the errors - Johnson (variety of them), Ripken, the two with switched backs etc…
Thanks.
I paid too much. But it is a nice piece.
hey JoeBanzai,
You get a Like & LOL on that one...
I know what you're saying about paying too much on Cool Material...
1st I check my banking, then I go looking...
For YEARS I would go to card shows with next to nothing to spend. I would look up prices ahead of time to see what was affordable and often come away with no cards.
eBay was great back in the day, not as good now, but I still look every day.
Now that the kids are grown, I am retired and don't have any debt, I am able to pick up an item here and there that I wouldn't have considered when I was working and supporting my family.
After 35 years of chasing Killebrew cards, I have most of the ones I "need". I think it was more fun hunting for cards when I could barely afford them. 😁
Did anyone happen to pick up one of the very early 1989 Fleer wax boxes with code 83222 from BBCE a few weeks back? I don’t remember seeing anything earlier than this before. The boxes were sold out before I could get one. I would love to hear what RJ versions others found inside.

Hey pal - sent you a PM just for shits & giggles. Let me know, thanks!
Replied!
Willy, I'm out of the game but I'd be curious what those go for on the open market out of plain ignorance.
My Podcast - Now FEATURED on iTunes
Looks like 200-300
These sell for about $200 when they are BBCE FASC - raw, these are not selling for that much anywhere.

One box sold, on a eBay seller that has been caught shill bidding before, isn't a good way to establish comps.
Wellllllllll since I haven’t sold one of these in 5 or 6 years and folks asked me what they go for, the logical thing is to go to eBay and see what’s up…I don’t have the same research if who is and who isn’t shill bidders….would appear you have all this figured out…should be no prob for you to get what you are looking for at the price you want….I’ll hold these and maybe open a box and post the results…
I don't understand the hostility.
First guy shares that he owns boxes from the very first print run with ALL of the errors.
Second guy says he's interested in the first guy's items and sends PM, so who knows what was discussed.
A third guy with no skin in the game asks out of curiosity what those items sell for.
First guy replies to the third guy with a range based on a few past eBay sales.
Second guy apparently uses comps of boxes that only contain SOME of the errors, and tries to downplay the value of an item that he clearly wants to purchase on the cheap.
The first guy apparently doesn't care one way or the other if a sale is made, and is done fooling around with the second guy. If the second guy can easily buy the items at the price he thinks they're worth, then the first guy is thinking, "then go buy a many as you can from somewhere else."
I don't see any hostility, just an education being handed out to a guy with 20-something posts.
LOL - guy brings out the "number of posts" bit. Classic.
If you want me to snap you some pictures of my unopened 1989 Fleer collection, feel free to let me know. This guy was asking $250 for raw boxes where they don't even sell for that when they are BBCE FASC - just because one does, on an eBay account that is known for shill bidding, does not make that the "comp" to which these are valued at.
Here is a price point to reference - FASC, and an earlier run than the one that Slick Willy has.

Care to keep going? Or you just going to assume I don't know WTF I am talking about because I don't have more than 30 posts on a message board?
The education is that it is much easier to attract flies with honey than it is with vinegar. If you attempted a transaction with me with that attitude, I wouldn't sell to you at any price. You'll learn. Go take that nonsense to the guy selling boxes at $125, then.
A masterclass at a word salad. Bravo to you, sir.

Oh, look! Another sold comp that is well below the $250 per box that the guy was asking.
Want more Count Chocolate?
Dude let it go…are you emailing all the people with them for sale on eBay and telling them they are dumb and should lower their price?
I appreciate your interest but you’re handling this poorly.
I am entitled to ask whatever I want and you are entitled to offer whatever you want…if I wanted to dump them I would lower the price, but I don’t want to or need to…hence since I know it was a sealed case and know what’s in them, I am comfortable that folks who know and trust me will work a deal with me if they want some….I don’t need bbce to work with folks I know and trust and like….
