Home PCGS Set Registry Forum

Ok, I have to ask a question.

I'm new to the boards, and I see people talking about registry sets. What exactly are registry sets? You're probably thinking how stupid I am, but I just don't know. Thank you very much.

Shorty, It's the china pattern we all want when we marry. Just kidding. It's really a collection of PCGS certified coins listed on these boards for the purpose of competing and listing our sets. See the main board.image

  • Registry sets are the sets of coins that various people have assembled with the different series and varities of various coins. You can go to the main page of the pcgs site (www.pcgs.com) and click on registry sets and view the different sets that folks have assembled. It's quite impressive and stirs a competitive atmosphere because anyone can register their coins in the registry as long as they are PCGS graded. Hope this helps!!image
  • why do they have to be graded by PCGS? how come you can't use the coins you have in your collection, that aren't graded by PCGS?

Some coins have less marks and other stuff then other coins. PCGS just kind of "confirms" it, by giving out a grade.

Shorty .. without a third party (PCGS) making the call, we all would have complete sets of the finest coins ever assembled and they would be a 500 way tie for No. 1 atop the differing registry sets. image

Keith - Seulmont un pue I sure can't spell, but I think I can pronounce it.

Yo Shorty - PCGS wouldn't turn a profit that way!
