Fals (Copper, 23 mm, 3.37 Grams), 'Standing Caliph' type, Hims (Emesa), type II, AH 74-80 / 693/4-699/700 AD .
Obverse:
Bearded Caliph standing facing, placing his right hand on the hilt of his sword; around, 'J li' abd Allah' abd al-Malik amir al-Mu'minin'
(For the servant of Allah, Abd al-Malik, Commander of the Faithful).
Reverse:
Cross transformed to Φ standing on base and three steps; in field to right, "bi-hims" ('in Hims' in Kufic); in field to left, star; around,
'lā ilāha illā allāh wahdahu muhammad rasūl allāh' (There is no God but Allah alone; Muhammad PBUH is the Prophet of Allah).
